00:00We've reached our New York Yankees portion of the show, so I can just turn this over to George,
00:05maybe, for a lot of complaining, or we could just go through it like the other teams.
00:09My preference would be just to continue on here on Fantasy Sports today.
00:12Let's take a look at how the Yankees line up this season, and look, it's, you know,
00:17a different lineup without Juan Soto. It may be a really different lineup if Giancarlo Stam
00:21doesn't start the season with the team. The strange injury that he has to both elbows,
00:24really weird. The Martian, Jason Dominguez, is going to play a lot at the beginning,
00:28no doubt about that. Aaron Judge is back again, of course. There is Cody Bellinger in the Yankees
00:34lineup to start the season. Stanton, if he's there. Jazz Chisholm, who came over in the
00:38trade last year, is going to get you some nice qualifications, I would guess, this season,
00:42right? Outfield, third base, second base, some other spots, going to be valuable in that sense.
00:48Goldie, former MVP at first, and then the back end of the lineup, Austin Wells, Anthony Volpe,
00:53who, you know, is really good, but maybe not exactly who we thought he would be. And then
00:56you have Oswaldo Cabrera at third base. But my gosh, George, like, you can kind of talk
01:02yourself into, okay, they signed Goldie, and they got Bellinger, and, well, you know,
01:08that's going to soften the blow a little bit with Soto being gone. But if Stanton is out too,
01:14I mean, you tell me, like, what direction do they go from there? And maybe I should just go
01:18back and look at every year with Stanton, because he's missed a lot of time. But he usually starts
01:22the season with the team on opening day. It doesn't appear that that's going to happen this
01:26time. Yeah, usually it's around May when he starts his first injury. Usually it's a leg injury,
01:31right, with Stanton running the bases, and, oh, here we go. It's always a running joke. You know,
01:36Stanton's going to get hurt now. It's just, it's going to happen for opening day. Both elbows,
01:39he's calling it tennis elbow, but it was severe pain. He hadn't swung in three to four weeks.
01:44Yeah, he'll start the season on the IL, and we'll see when we get him back. It's frustrating,
01:49but you know it's coming. It happens every year. I think what's more frustrating for Yankee fans,
01:54Craig, is that he had such a good playoffs that I think Yankees were finally starting to go,
01:58oh, wow, okay, Stanton, maybe you can, you know, come that over to the regular season here,
02:03and then, oh, he's hurt. You know, here we go. Here we go again. And all that goodwill has sort
02:07of gone away here. All right, there's no Juan Soto here. You know, Yankees want him, not going
02:12to happen here. Such is life, right? He took, what, the 765 from the Met. He took the most
02:18money there. You got to move on. I like the addition of Cody Bellinger. I do. It's another
02:22bet I like, by the way. He's over-under for home runs, 20 and a half. I'm taking that.
02:26Yankee Stadium, he's going to get that unless he gets hurt. He should get that pretty easily,
02:30and he's also batting behind Judge. All right, at least that's how I think the Yankees will go
02:34about that. So I like the Bellinger one. Goldschmidt, there is no bad one-year signing
02:38here. Maybe he has a rebound year. He did play better the last third of last season,
02:43so maybe just had a bad first two-thirds, which is what the Yankees are hoping for,
02:46but the Yankees also know, well, they can't be any worse than Anthony Rizzo, who was horrific
02:50last year, who couldn't field or hit. So at least he'll be able to field. So the Yankees will see
02:55what happens there. You mentioned Dominguez, who's, you can still get him as a normal price
03:00in fantasy leagues. You know, I think he'll be solid here. To be honest, as a Yankee fan,
03:06I wish the Yankees would play Dominguez in center field. He was not good in left field last year,
03:10and Bellinger can play left, and I would like the younger guy just to play position where he's
03:15comfortable, so he's not worried about the defense, but the Yankees don't feel the same
03:18way. They want to try him in left. We'll see. I agree with you, what you said about Chisholm.
03:22Jazz is going to be great, all right? They have no problem with Jazz, but once again,
03:26don't play him at third. He wasn't very good at third. He wasn't terrible. He wasn't very
03:30good there either. Leave him at second base. You don't have a third base.
03:33It's his best position. I don't think it's particularly close, by the way. I saw him in
03:38Miami for many years. I mean, look, he did his best playing center field, okay?
03:45His best position was second. I thought he was going to win a gold glove there,
03:48and then they started messing around with him, you know, putting him in center.
03:50Leave at second base. Leave at second base. Yeah, leave him at second base.
03:53Go at your Schmoyers-Borg at that third base, right? LeMay, he was done, but you need a third
03:58base or you don't have LeMay now. So as far as the pitching is concerned,
04:02the big signing was Max Fried, who I love. I think he's going to be a great Yankee. I really
04:06love that signing. I'm not going to take Garrett Cole. I'm just too worried that whatever happened
04:12last year could happen again. So I'm just not going to do that. I know you're not hoping for
04:15that. I'm not hoping for that, George. I'm just telling you, I'm not going down that road.
04:19Carlos Rodon, Luis Hill, Clark Schmidt, and then Stroman and Wading, they got rid of Cortez. They
04:24didn't want to have seven, so at least they only have six going into the camp, into the spring
04:28season. And that's probably the biggest worry. By the way, I agree with you about Cole. I would
04:33be very worried. I mean, in my home league, I got him in the sixth round, so I'm going to keep him,
04:37so I'll have no choice there. But drafting him, I would be very wary because I hope with that
04:42injury there, he doesn't seem to be the same Cole anymore either, by the way. I think he's more of
04:46closer to on that board of SP1, SP2, rather than a pure SP1. So I'd be careful. Fried will be fine.
04:52Rodon, he was good last year, we'll see. Luis Hill, he had one rookie of the year. Clark Schmidt
04:59was good. But as you were sort of saying there, the Yankees, by the way, once they suffer injuries,
05:04and they will, they don't have a lot of depth in starting pitching, all right? Stroman, I don't
05:08think will be there come opening day. They'll find a way to move him out. And then you talk about
05:12the Will Warrens of the world, Brubaker, I mean, Carlos Carrasco was with the organization. So
05:17there's a lot of question marks if they suffer more than one or two injuries in their rotation,
05:22something Yankees have to look out for. I'll tell you, now to talk saves here a little bit,
05:27Luke Weaver finished the season as the guy getting saves. And I do think that he may have the most
05:32value of those closers. George, I was really surprised that, I'll tell you this, when the
05:37Brewers let someone go, I get a little worried. I do, I get a little worried. I'm like, you know,
05:42what's up? Because I thought Devin Williams was like the best man. Like, I mean, he has a pitch
05:47that's the airbender, whatever it is, is unhittable. And it is a perfect spot to be a closer on the
05:53Yankees. But I'm just keeping it real here. There are some organizations that it bothers me when I
05:59see them let a player go, and he is one of those. I sort of get what you're saying. I think it's a
06:05trade where they didn't want to pay the closer because they, you know, the small market team,
06:08blah, blah, blah. And listen, you've got a pretty decent starting pitcher in Cortez,
06:12which you needed. All right. So I think Williams will be fine. Another one of those guys,
06:16I think is, you know, you can make an argument, he's the number one closer going in, him or Clauze.
06:20I think he'll be great. So not all that worried about Devin Williams. As I said,
06:25maybe they're still mad about the home run to Alonzo last year that kicked him out of the
06:28playoffs there. I don't know. Yeah. You know, so whatever it is, but I think it was going to
06:32be great with the Yankees. Are they, do they need a closer? No, I mean, it was fantastic.
06:37And I think he was pissed in the second inning in game one. The Yankees might still be playing
06:42in the world series. I know.
