00:00We've been talking from the outset about Canada's win, and I bet the overtime, I hit it at plus
00:09390.
00:10I refuse to take a side, as you know, because I bet on Canada Saturday night, and I said
00:16that I don't think the USA can beat them twice in a row to you on this show.
00:22And so I just bet the overtime and cashed it, and I was okay with that.
00:26Obviously, I was disappointed for the US team, but I never once thought they were better
00:32than that Canadian team with their talent and roster and speed.
00:37You know, when it was all said and done, Jordan Bennington was the difference in overtime,
00:42right?
00:43The USA were the better team in overtime for the most part.
00:47Like in the first couple of minutes, they legitimately had four or five scoring opportunities.
00:52I said the same thing about the US team for the entire tournament.
00:57They never really had sustained pressure offensively, right?
01:01They would score in these like out of nowhere.
01:03They were like flash knockouts if they were a fighter.
01:06They're sort of standing there, next thing you know, you get kicked in the head and you're
01:09knocked out.
01:10The USA really just struck like lightning out like out of nowhere all the time in the
01:16tournament.
01:17And then finally in overtime, they actually had some sustained pressure for real.
01:22The first couple of minutes, they were buzzing, man, buzzing around the net, legitimate scoring
01:27opportunities.
01:28You know, there's a fine line, bro, between winning and losing, and that was the case
01:33last night.
01:34Canada can, you know, we can flax and exhale and okay, we, you know, we won.
01:41But I swear, dude, like if you're, if this is a seven game series, they're going to play
01:46nine games.
01:47You know what I mean?
01:48It was that close.
01:49I mean, after two periods, Scott, it was 2-2 and the shots on goal were 19-18, right?
01:55It was like, all right, we played 40 minutes, we have the same amount of goals and we have
01:59the same amount of shots on goal pretty much.
02:02There really wasn't a lot to take away between the two teams.
02:05I think just sort of that little clutch factor, right?
02:08Canada had 14 guys that have won Stanley Cups on the team before.
02:12That's a lot, right?
02:14Almost like every guy on the bench last night during the game has been in like a serious
02:21situation in the NHL before, and I thought that was a difference maker.
02:26Nobody wanted Bennington, Scott, to be the goalie, right?
02:29I mean, the fact of the matter is, which is insane, the top three goalies for Canada this
02:35year technically, like the three Canadian goalies with the best stats weren't on the
02:40team.
02:42It was like Bizarro World.
02:44Like Logan Thompson's the best Canadian goalie in the world right now.
02:48He wasn't even on the team.
02:49I mean, the Montreal Canadiens goalie, Montabeau, was on the team, right?
02:53And it was out of spite, Scott.
02:54And so one thing with Team Canada, Logan Thompson didn't want to play for them in the World
02:58Championships once.
02:59He was tired after the Vegas run.
03:02All right, we'll remember this down the road.
03:05You won't be on the team when it matters.
03:07That's the way they roll, and it was a dangerous way to roll with Jordan Bennington.
03:11I mean, Bennington hasn't been an elite goalie in the NHL for what, three, four, five years?
03:15Right?
03:16But man, did he step up when it mattered most, Scott.
03:19Like Bennington really, really deserved a lot of credit.
