00:00Nick Jonas makes his return to Broadway this spring in the revival of my favorite musical
00:10of all time, The Last Five Years, which follows two New Yorkers as they fall in and out of
00:14love over the course of their relationship.
00:16Big fan right here.
00:17So we sat down with Nick and his co-star Tony winner, Adrienne Warren, to talk about the
00:21beloved musical, their pre-show rituals and their favorite Jonas songs.
00:32To get to tell this story and compact this five year, very exciting, tumultuous and everything
00:38between relationship is not only a challenge that we're up for, but something that I think
00:42audiences are going to love seeing.
00:43These are characters that everyone has loved for about 20 years, over 20 years now.
00:48And so I think the shock of that kind of blew my mind.
00:51How do each of you balance work and life when you are in the thick of a show like that?
00:56It's really about just taking it day by day and investing ourselves in this work and this
01:01piece with our team.
01:02My family will join me for some of this, which would be nice.
01:05And obviously on the opening night and stuff, I think the brothers will come out and my
01:08parents.
01:09But having that support is key, especially when you're doing a project that's as intense
01:14as this.
01:15It's nice to feel like when you go home, you get to kind of like sit back on your couch
01:17and get those cuddles or whatever else you need to recharge.
01:21Nick, this is a return to your roots.
01:22Broadway, how does it feel to be back?
01:25It's a wild feeling.
01:26We were in the rehearsal space today and I was thinking back to my very first rehearsal
01:34for a Broadway show.
01:35It was actually in that same studio about 25 years ago.
01:38To be in this community is just so special.
01:40Do you have like a first night ritual or anything that you have to do or eat or pray before
01:48hitting the stage?
01:50Therapy.
01:51I don't really have a ritual and it's been a while.
01:53My last show was 12 years ago, but certainly, you know, approaching each day and each performance
01:59with gratitude is going to be important.
02:01It's a blessing to be here and to get to be on the Broadway stage.
02:04Favorite Jonas Brothers song of all time?
02:06I can give you a favorite Nick Jonas song.
02:08Do it.
02:09It is Jealous.
02:10There's one called I Believe which kind of summarizes my relationship in its early stages.
02:32It's always going to be really meaningful to me.
