00:00Number one, we are both so sorry, because we understand attachments to dogs and especially in your circumstance what you've done, but also what a great life.
00:15Yeah, I mean that that talk what was my life. I've had them pretty much my whole adult life.
00:22You prepare yourself, or you at least think you're preparing yourself for this day to come, but there's just no amount of preparation that you can really anticipate how hard and how bad it's going to feel.
00:37It's just weird sitting here without him now. He's usually right next to me, so it's tough for sure.
00:44Marshall, tell us about that. The last visit that Hurricane made with the Secret Service before he passed. I know there was a special that the Secret Service wanted to honor him. Tell us how that went.
01:00I wanted to make sure I got him back one last time to his old working spot, what he loved to do, what he woke up every morning to do when we started from the beginning.
01:11I wanted him to get there and see that White House one last time and be there with the teammates one more time.
01:19Those guys were just as attached to Hurricane as I was. We were one big family, so I wanted to make sure we all saw through to the end together.
01:28We had a great honor flight home on Freedom 1. They all met me at the airport, surprised me with TSA as well.
01:36It was hard right from the beginning. I wasn't expecting them to be waiting for me.
01:42They were all there. The next morning, we went to the White House. They had a nice plaque made for Hurricane, the flag behind me.
01:50They flew at the K-9 Training Center in honor of Hurricane and did a nice little memorial right there on the South Grounds.
01:58We all went back to our house in Alexandria where Hurricane lived for many, many years while he was working.
02:04We all said goodbye together as a team.
02:07Selfishly, I knew this day was coming. I can't believe it's been this long.
02:12I did not think I'd have this much time with him, but for me, I needed his name to live on.
02:17I knew how hard it would be when he passed, and I needed a reason to keep talking about him and keep remembering him
02:24and keep having his impact made when he's gone.
02:27For those reasons, Hurricane Heroes was born. We've sponsored over 150 working dogs.
02:33Because of you guys and other people who share our story, it keeps growing and growing.
02:41After all this, like I said, as hard as it is to come on here and do this, this will spread awareness about the working dogs
02:49and it will help us be able to take care of more and more dogs.
02:52It feels like the right thing, as hard as it is.
