00:00My name is Ava Caputo, I'm 18 years old and I play for the TMU bold women's hockey team.
00:30I started hockey when I was about two years old and I've just always been skating and at the rinks ever since.
00:42I think hockey's taught me so many different things. For me to the person I am today and I
00:47would say I've learned so many lessons, I've come through so much adversity
00:51in this sport and it's really made me to who I am today.
01:00I'm proud to go to TMU and I would say that pretty much everyone on this team is,
01:07I would say everyone is, and we are when we put the jersey on we are one team and we're just
01:13fighting for the team not for ourselves individually and I would say that that's
01:18what really helps us wins when we play as a team.
01:22Coming in as a first year and being from Alberta and being from so far away and not knowing a single person here
01:30and coming on a team I automatically have 25 friends or 26 friends whatever it is. The girls
01:36they always are there to, like they're very positive towards me and hype me up and so I
01:42would say that really our relationship and them influencing the team has really helped me.
01:52The girls influencing me is very positive and it creates me to be the best version of myself.
02:08I think obviously coming to a team that they've already been teammates for however long and I'm
02:13coming in not knowing anyone and being new to the team, Coach Lisa she was very welcoming and very
02:19kind and very supportive throughout it all and she listened to my needs and helped me be the best
02:26player that I can be whether it's on the ice and off the ice and I think that her and Coach Frapp
02:31have done great things. She's very mature for her age already what's really helped her transition
02:36easily is the energy and the passion that she shows up with every day in practice she's always
02:41one of the hardest working players in practice she's really coachable trying to learn new concepts
02:46really quickly so and I think she's made some friends really quickly amongst our team.
02:57I think there's been a few times I've wanted to quit and just throughout my career like whether
03:01I'm down on myself I'm not getting as much playing time I'm just not doing my best I'm in a slump
03:06whatever it is I would say that I just have to remember why I'm doing it. I love the game and
03:10I've always loved the game I will always love the game it's a huge part of my life and I just got to
03:15remember that and then it just brings me back to why I'm doing why I'm doing what I'm doing.
03:23But I would say I would like to stay in hockey whether it be I'm a coach or
03:28working in hockey or when I have kids they're in hockey and everything hockey will always be a part
03:32of my life it's just everything I do really and it's what I enjoy doing I love it and I
03:38wouldn't change it for the world.
03:49Caputo number 26 catch me on the ice.
