00:00For a better future for young people in Cotabato City,

00:04the Central Bank of the Philippines and the private sector taught them

00:08how to save money.

00:11This is so they can learn how to be more responsible

00:15in their ownership even at a young age.

00:19This is Leanne Bolongon of PIA SocSargen in the Centro ng Balita.

00:24About 200 children from Cero Central School or SCS in Cotabato City

00:30opened their basic deposit account to start saving money.

00:35This is after SCS partnered with the Central Bank of the Philippines

00:39or BSP Cotabato Branch and a private bank for opening bank accounts for children.

00:45The so-called HAC Bank taught the children the importance of saving

00:49and budgeting at a young age.

00:51According to the BSP Cotabato Branch, the children's account deposit

00:55is through their passbook and has a deposit of P50.

00:59Basically, it promotes the basic deposit account and targeting the school children.

01:04Meaning, they will have a bank account.

01:07And also, this activity jumpstarts their savings activity.

01:12SCS Principal Mergie Benedicto also gave the importance of teaching

01:17the children the right approach.

01:19I called on our parents and youths to teach our youths how to save

01:29through Young Savers Kids account,

01:32where the savings of your children are not only in the bank account,

01:37but also deposited in the bank.

01:39Meanwhile, the BSP was also able to conduct learning sessions

01:43related to effective budgeting that was taught to the youths, parents and teachers.

01:48This is important for the children.

01:51When the time comes, the children will learn how to save.

01:56They will be able to get money when the time comes.
