00:00Two weeks of sitting have just wrapped up here at Parliament House and the question on everyone's
00:03lips now is whether or not that was the last sitting period before the federal election.
00:08The federal election is due to take place before May 17 but speculation is high that it could come
00:12much sooner. Ultimately the decision is up to the Prime Minister and he is remaining tight-lipped
00:17on the issue but there are a few possible dates being thrown around. If the Reserve Bank announces
00:22a rate cut as predicted in February there's a chance the Prime Minister will call an election
00:26to be held in late March. The other date that's being thrown around is April 12 because that
00:32falls just after the WA state election and just before the Easter holidays. Once he does decide
00:37on the date the Prime Minister will head to see Governor-General Sam Mostyn who will issue a writ
00:41for the election. After that comes at least 33 days of campaigning in which time we can expect
00:46to see Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton traverse the country in a hope to win over voters.
