00:03Doorbell video captures the moments a woman experiencing homelessness resorted to getting
00:06into a dog kennel to try and stay warm.
00:09First thing she told me, she's like, I'm super sorry.
00:12I have nowhere to go, but I'm sorry.
00:15And I mean, me and her were like, it seemed like she got up to where she's like, I'm going
00:20to get kicked out, kind of almost already getting out of the kennel.
00:23Kind of accepting the fate that she was going to have to move to a different location.
00:28Right.
00:29But that wasn't the case.
00:30Mariah Pena had woken up around three in the morning and wanted to check in on potential
00:32snow when she opened the door to a stranger sleeping in the kennel on her porch.
00:37The desperation in her voice of not asking, like, please let me stay.
00:40But this is the best that I have at this point in time and in the night.
00:45And so I think that also kind of got us a little heartbroken.
00:49Pena and Daniel Vartiz didn't feel comfortable allowing the unknown woman into their home
00:53where their child sleeps, but also knew they couldn't find it in their hearts to make her
00:57leave.
