00:30It may look like a scene out of the movie Jaws,
00:43but scuba diving with sharks at the Ambassador Lagoon is actually pretty safe.
00:48The gigantic aquarium is home to stingrays, sharks, and thousands of different species of fish.
00:54The Ambassador Lagoon is an 11 million liter marine habitat,
00:58and one of the largest aquariums in the world.
01:01It is also the largest open-air aquarium in Africa and the Middle East,
01:05at just over 3 million gallons of water.
01:09This habitat focuses on marine life found in the local waters of the Arabian Gulf,
01:14including different types of sharks like the zebra shark, the gray reef shark,
01:19bow-mouth guitar shark, the white-tip reef shark, the black-tip reef shark,
01:24and the Arabian carpet shark.
01:26Gulf News went down to try out the Atlantis Dive Explorer,
01:30which is a 30-minute dive session where I came face-to-face with sharks, rays, and fish.
01:35It was a rare and beautiful experience diving alongside incredible sea creatures.
01:48Yay, this was great.
01:50So I just completed my 30-minute dive in the Lost Chambers Aquarium,
01:54where there are so many different species of fish, shark, and stingray.
01:59And it was a very overwhelmingly beautiful experience,
02:04something that anyone who is a diving enthusiast and who loves experiencing new things
02:11should do when they're in Dubai.
02:13The sharks were swimming all around me.
02:16The stingrays were not nervous at all.
02:19They came up to me. They said hello.
02:21Some even touched my head, which made me a little bit nervous.
02:24But to be honest, I think it was part of the experience.
02:26And I was too busy worrying that I was diving correctly,
02:30that I wasn't so scared, I guess, of the fish.
02:34They are fed very well, and it's a very safe environment
02:38and a great way for me to sort of dive again.
02:41I'm really looking forward to diving again,
02:43and I hope that I can do it here because it was just perfect.
