00:00So this is my first time diving ever.
00:14I'm at Dubai Malan Aquarium.
00:16I'm really excited but I'm nervous at the same time.
00:18I'm a good swimmer but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm going to be a good diver.
00:22It's all about breathing so that's what I'm going to be working on.
00:28So after practicing the breathing techniques in the dive cage, it was time for the final
00:32dive.
00:33I grabbed a waterproof camera and put on my flippers, strapped on the very heavy 50 pound
00:37oxygen tank and slowly lowered myself down a rope, having to stop after each meter to
00:42pinch my nose and blow out in order to release the pressure from my ears.
00:46It's basically the same sensation you get when taking off or landing in a plane.
00:51Then finally I reached the bottom and suddenly became aware of my surroundings, being very
00:55careful not to upset a shark or stingray so they wouldn't make a meal on my foot.
00:59Like my instructor Ernesto said, once you regulate your breathing and get a chance to
01:03just observe, a weight will be lifted and you'll have fun.
01:06So I just kicked my feet, opened my eyes and off I went.
01:09It was a really neat experience.
01:12I loved seeing all of the fish and the wildlife.
01:17I was only really scared when we saw the shark really close and I grabbed for the instructor.
01:21But aside from that it was just focusing on breathing, relaxing and just floating through
01:25and just observing everything around you.
