00:13Four-time presidential candidate Kiza Besije, who has been in detention since his abduction
00:18from Kenya on November 16, 2024, is infirm and experiences episodes of hypertension,
00:24according to his lawyer Arias Lukwago.
00:28The 68-year-old politician has been on a hunger strike for some days, protesting of his arrest
00:34and detention.
00:35A military tribunal in Kampala has charged Besije and an assistant with offences related
00:41to illegal possession of a firearm and threatening national security.
00:46Besije also faces a separate charge of treachery, a crime under military law that carries the
00:52death penalty.
