00:20The next hearing of the House Tri-Committee will be held on Tuesday regarding the spread of fake news and disinformation in the country.

00:30According to OneRider portalist Representative Roge Gutierrez,

00:33the disinformation campaign online of some groups with connections in China should be investigated.

00:42It was mentioned by one of the research persons, I think it was Press One,

00:46that there was a link between misinformation and allegedly Chinese-owned accounts, Chinese backing.

00:54There is allegedly a link between Chinese backing of misinformation in the West Philippine Sea

01:00and political campaigns for certain individuals in the country.

01:04So I think that's why it's very important.

01:06According to House Assistant Majority Leader Zia Alonto Adjong,

01:09social media influencers should also be faced with the first call of the show-cause order of the committee.

01:16Lawmakers want to hear their panic and not their freedom of speech.

01:23Especially in this campaign period, it is really used to propagate fake news.

01:28I think all of us should agree that we need to regulate the dissemination of malinformation and disinformation.

01:36If there's no valid reason for their absence again this time,

01:40it might escalate to a show-cause order and they might be subpoenaed.

01:49According to the House Committee on Public Order and Safety Chair Dan Fernandez,

01:53he is not afraid of being heard.

01:55He just wants to know if the current laws are enough to stop the spread of malinformation in the country

02:01or if new laws are needed regarding this.

02:04Meanwhile, regarding the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte,

02:09congressmen are hoping that the litigation will start soon.

02:14That is also the next step of a petition to the Supreme Court

02:17to urge the Senate to start the impeachment proceeding.

02:21We respect the stand of the Senate as they have the sole authority and responsibility

02:29in relation to the subject of impeachment convening as the impeachment court.

02:34As a personal opinion, I believe that in the eyes of other luminaries,

02:40the forthwith provision of the Constitution would mean immediately.

02:44I think that's what the mandamus petition is talking about.

02:49So I would tend to agree with that petition.

02:52As of now, the House Prosecution Panel is still preparing.

02:56Even if the Senate decides to start the impeachment proceeding,

02:59it is still a part of their constitutional duty.
