00:00There is considerable outrage in India over the video of two Manipuri women that has gone

00:09viral, which shows them being paraded naked in Manipur by a mob of a thousand strong men

00:15and then being sexually assaulted by them.

00:18The incident happened on the 4th of May, a police case was registered on the 18th of

00:22May, but nobody knew about it until the video came out a couple of days ago.

00:27What is shocking has been the CM Biren Singh and his police's response to this.

00:32Mr Biren Singh claims he didn't even know this had happened until the video came out.

00:37The police are saying that they've now swung into action and made one arrest based on the

00:41video again.

00:42But they are the ones who filed an FIR in the case on the 18th of May.

00:46Why has it taken them more than two months to actually take action and arrest anybody

00:52for this?

00:53It's a shocking commentary on the state of affairs in Manipur, a state which has been

00:57burning now for two and a half months.

01:00And most top government ministers, including the prime minister, until now have been silent

01:05on what has been going on in Manipur.

01:07This video at least has broken their silence.

01:10It's forced even the Supreme Court to intervene and demand some action from the government.

01:15Finally, what has happened in Manipur is a huge blot on all of us as the media society

01:22at large, the government, the police, everyone has failed the people of Manipur in this time

01:28of crisis.

01:29What is clear though is that nothing short of Biren Singh's resignation or sacking as

01:33chief minister will be acceptable now.
