00:00Caitlyn Clarke sported a rarely seen look for Indiana Fever Media Day this week,
00:04and fans think it's just super. Meet Caitlyn Clarke-Kent. That's the nickname supporters
00:09of the WNBA phenom gave her online, as she donned these specs during an off-season press
00:13conference that brought to mind Superman's alter ego.
00:16This is Clarke-Kent. Good luck, kid."
00:19She's been compared to the Man of Steel for her super heroic feats on the court in the past,
00:23and she's been spotted out in public in these glasses before,
00:26wearing them to a Butler basketball game in November. But it's a new look for a press
00:30conference.
00:30I think that's what's super exciting about it all."
00:32The 23-year-old superstar is coming off her rookie season, during which she became the
00:36most famous women's basketball player in the world, even sharing headlines with Taylor Swift,
00:40as the two enjoyed a Kansas City Chiefs game together in January. Hugging in the luxury suite,
00:45Caitlyn's been a Chiefs fan since she was a little kid. Here she is decked out in KC gear.
00:49Caitlyn's highly anticipated second season with the fever starts in May,
00:53and cameras swarmed the point guard as she answered questions for Media Day.
00:56But a lot of fans online just couldn't get over those super-powered specs.
01:00Leaps, defenses, and a single bound — a superhero to so many, and Superwoman — were
01:04just some of the reactions to Caitlyn's fabulous frames, which one fan said gave the all-star
01:09gravitas. Another fan had a pitch for next year's round of Super Bowl commercials, writing,
01:13"'There's a Superman parody ad waiting to be made with Caitlyn Clarke in those glasses.'"
01:17"'How about we leave it to the professionals?'
01:19"'I like that.'"
01:20This isn't the first time fans have responded to Caitlyn switching up her look by comparing
01:24her to iconic sci-fi. This look from September also earned her Clarke Kent comparisons. But
01:28one fan saw something more cyberpunk in her trench coat and shades fit,
01:32dubbing her Lady Morpheus, a nod to the Matrix.
01:34Caitlyn's first game of her second season with the Indiana Fever is May 17th,
01:38against the Chicago Sky, which means Caitlyn will be facing off against Angel Reese, a major rival.
01:43"'The reason why we watching women's basketball is not just because of one person,
01:46it's because of me too, and I want y'all to realize that."
01:48In the offseason, Caitlyn's kept busy, attending Indiana Pacers games with her teammates and
01:53watching the Super Bowl like everyone else. The Kansas City Chiefs fan reached out to
01:57Philadelphia Eagles star Cooper DeJean after the Eagles beat the Chiefs,
02:00because the two share an alma mater.
02:02"'You sent me a nice message congratulating me, so,
02:05that was nice of her being a Chiefs fan and all.'"
02:08And the former Iowa Hawkeye seems to share with Caitlyn's fans the belief that she can do it all,
02:12and that she's ushering in a golden age of women's basketball, saying,
02:16"'Just the way she plays the game, she can score, she can pass, she can do it all.
02:20She's taking women's basketball to new heights.'"
02:22One of Caitlyn's new teammates, meanwhile, has another nickname for the 2024 Rookie of the Year.
02:27Guard Sophie Cunningham, acquired by the Fever last week,
02:29is more into pop star comparisons than any pulled from the pages of a comic book.
02:33"'I was like, I will be her Sabrina Carpenter any day to her Taylor Swift,
02:36like, I am so excited for this.'"
