00:00The Bureau of Corrections plans to make the country's prisons economic zone.

00:11It's not just a problem in prison that is expected to be solved

00:15by the ASEAN countries' efforts to talk about the prison system in different countries.

00:21According to the Bureau of Corrections,

00:23millions of investments are expected to enter the Philippines.

00:27The Bureau of Corrections in the countries in the region

00:31plans to make the country's prisons economic zone.

00:35In particular, the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm.

00:38After this conference, I was told by the PESA Director General

00:44that investors will be coming in from Thailand,

00:49from Singapore, and other countries

00:52because they want to also invest in the Philippines.

00:56The Bureau of Corrections plans to make the country's prisons economic zone

01:00in 28,300 hectares of land.

01:03Most of it will be used to grow agricultural products, fisheries, and others.

01:09So with the help of the incoming investments, Iwahig will become a food security hub.

01:14Number one, food security.

01:17That's really the country's problem.

01:21Because of climate change,

01:24we need to make sure that we produce the food that we need.

01:29So this will be a hub for aqua and agricultural products.

01:35Persons deprived of liberty will be transferred from the New Believed Prison

01:39to Iwahig and other regional facilities.

01:42They will also help in farming, raising animals, and aquaculture.

01:47According to the Bureau of Corrections, PDLs are beneficial here

01:50because they provide enough food and work that they can use when they are free.

01:55We want the PDLs to be relevant.

01:58We want the PDLs to be, as early as now,

02:02to be able to contribute something to the society.

02:06And then when the time comes,

02:08now that there's a GCTA and there's a lot of freedom,

02:11they are prepared to have a reintegration program.

02:15They really need a better place to live.

02:19Because they get sick there.

02:21And then of course, this will not stop me from looking around.

02:38As for the New Believed Prison,

02:40because the PDLs will be gone,

02:54Imagine all the regions, we earn at least 20 million a month.
