Emirates airline launches premium economy

In December, Emirates announced the launch of a brand-new premium economy class. It is currently offered as a complimentary upgrade. But Dubai’s flagship carrier has plans to retrofit its fleet of Airbus A380s with premium economy seats.

00:00Emirates recently launched a premium economy cabin on board its latest A380 aircraft, which
00:09has been deployed on the carrier's Dubai-London route.
00:12Apart from wider seats and a greater recline, the airline's new offering will also include
00:18bigger screens, easily accessible charging points and a cocktail table.
00:24Although offered as only an upgrade at the moment, Emirates is planning to install premium
00:29economy seats on its existing fleet of Airbus A380 jumbo jets.
00:35Emirates President Tim Clark had previously said that the premium economy experience will
00:40be offered as a complementary upgrade until the carrier has a viable number of seats in
00:46its inventory.
00:56Analysts expect premium economy to cost 30% more than the airline's economy class fares,
01:02which means a flight from Dubai to London will cost passengers a little over 2,100 dirhams
01:08based on current prices.
01:11Meanwhile, a flight to India's financial capital Mumbai could be priced at over 650
01:20dirhams.
