00:00This is a massive celebration here, as homegrown has made entry into Mars orbit, it's a big,
00:20massive, momentous achievement.
00:30So HOPE probe is actually going to see how gases escape from the atmosphere of Mars.
00:58It will also see how solar activity impacts Mars, so radiation from the sun, it interacts
01:04with the Martian atmosphere, it changes its chemistry, that is something that we are trying
01:09to understand.
01:10And now HOPE mission will provide another dataset, it is going to provide a global picture
01:16of the Martian climate and hopefully we'll be able to better answer this question.
01:22Why are we going to Mars?
01:23We found that there is so much synergy between what we do in the UAE and what we do on Mars.
01:29There is desert on Mars, there is evaporation of hydrogen and oxygen that doesn't become
01:38water.
01:39That's what Mars HOPE is going to study.
01:53Wow, what a moment today.
02:03Remember, UAE scientists, students, engineers have all been working for this moment, for
02:10this day and all their hard work has paid off.
02:14It's going to be a historic moment, not only for Emirates but for the Arab world and the
02:24whole world.
02:25We hope that we give hope to the Arab youth, to this generation, to focus towards science
02:33and technology.
02:34For the leadership, our leadership, there is nothing impossible.
02:38This is quite an achievement for the Emirates and for the Arab world.
02:44It shows that the investment in human capital is what makes the difference.
02:48This is the true investment and this is the real return of what we are benefiting today.
02:53It's inspiring all of the next generation about science, technology and engineering.
03:08This probe is very unique in terms of what it's going to do.
03:17It is going to study the erosion of the weather and the atmosphere around Mars in order for
03:24us to understand what happened there, which might help us of what's going to happen here
03:29and the climate change that we are facing.
03:32All the data will be provided to more than 200 science institutions, faculties as well
03:39as universities worldwide.
