Unsolicited adverts have many ways to crop into your personal space, be it your mobile phones, social networking platforms or websites. But now, UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has stepped in to help customers block unwanted text messages (SMS adverts).

00:00Are you annoyed by mobile phone ads?
00:03Unwanted ads sent to our phones can be pesky and irritating,
00:07especially when they land at night when we're trying to sleep.
00:11But we have good news for you.
00:13You can now block ads from landing into your inbox.
00:16UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority launched an initiative
00:21to block the unwanted advertisement messages sent to customers.
00:25And all UAE providers are also involved in this campaign.
00:29I'm really happy about the new ad blocking campaign.
00:32It was getting kind of annoying having companies messaging me their offers
00:36that I wasn't really interested in.
00:38I get around five ads a day, so I'm definitely going to block the ads.
00:43All I can say is that it was a very good move from TRA and a much needed one.
00:48So how can you block ads from your phone?
00:52Mobile users just need to send the word BALL to 7726
00:57to stop all marketing messages that start with AD.
01:01As a result, your operator will block all advertising SMSes.
