USC Women’s Basketball Hands No. 1 UCLA Its First Loss

00:00What an incredible night. Thanks to you all for being here. I mean, look around the room.

00:04It was just a few years ago that people said women's basketball in L.A.

00:08can't be big, can't be

00:12covered, can't be sold out. And I think we just, you guys, us

00:16together, all keep proving that wrong. So, appreciate that.

00:20Magical night. Really, really incredibly proud of our team.

00:24I said to anyone who asked me prior that

00:28UCLA is legit good as people think they are. I wasn't watching film saying

00:32hey, you know, they're not as good as people think. I said they're really good and we

00:36have to be better than them to win the game, to earn it. And I thought

00:40our players did everything in their power to do that. I thought it was

00:44an incredible team win. But obviously, I would be remiss if I didn't talk about

00:48these two young women sitting here. No one in our locker room is surprised at the

00:52performance that Clarice put on. My husband just sent me something, like a

00:56post that someone said, Clarice Akinwafo will be remembered.

01:00It was just an unbelievable, you know, Galen moment.

01:04She was phenomenal. But we all just know what she's capable of and

01:08plays her role as well as anyone I've coached.

01:12And I know you're going to ask me a million questions. I didn't teach

01:16Juju any of that. Just try to put her in situations

01:20to be her best self. And she does most of that work.

01:24And what I was so impressed with tonight, obviously, was just the mentality she came out

01:28with. Obviously, the ball going through the net helps. But when we changed

01:32our coverages in the second half and said, we can't just go one-on-one with bets. We have

01:36to double. The double's got to be good. She ends up with eight blocks as well.

01:40I thought our team stepped up.
