I asked actor Sahiba Bali why Millennials and Gen Z are so different as employees. I liked the part where she said, "The good thing about Gen Z and Alpha is that they understand themselves much more with clarity."

00:00Millennials were always there to appease someone, whether it's your parents, your teachers, your professors, your work.
00:06The good thing about Gen Z and Alpha is that they understand themselves much more and with clarity.
00:17Yeah, there's so many patterns that I go through. People-pleasing is one of them.
00:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:22Not being able to say no.
00:24Yes.
00:26These are things that, just saying things just so the other person is happy.
00:32Like again, people-pleasing behavior. So there are a lot of patterns in me that I really want to break.
00:38I think this is also a very millennial thing.
00:40Like our generation is very people-pleasing.
00:42And even if, like, suppose you work for a corporate, if there is a millennial,
00:47they're going to be like, yes, sir, I'll do this for you, whatever it takes.
00:50But if there's like a Gen Z or a Gen Alpha, if they get jobs now,
00:55they're just going to be like, no, my mental space is empty.
00:58They understand themselves.
00:59Correct.
00:59I feel like the good thing about Gen Z and Alpha is that they understand themselves much more and with clarity.
01:06And I feel like millennials were always there to appease someone,
01:10whether it's your parents, your teachers, your professors, your work.
01:15And it could be so because lack of opportunities during our time.
01:18You know, like we were told,
01:25doctor, engineer, this is the field.
01:27So our childhood was like that.
01:29And now that we are adults, we're like, but this is not true.
01:33Correct.
01:34There's so many jobs and there is, I don't have to do this.
01:37I can do this if I want to.
01:39The want aspect is there.
01:40And millennial parents are more open with their children.
01:44So I think, yeah, that people-pleasing thing is quite pissing off, to be honest.
01:47I really want to fix it.
01:49And I tell myself, okay, today you're going to draw a boundary.
01:51And then I'm like, yeah, sure, whatever you want, I will do.
01:54And then it doesn't happen.
01:54It just doesn't happen.
01:56Do you like being stereotyped as the good looking person?
01:59No, because there's a lot of your comments that only focus on the way you look.
02:03Yeah, see, I don't have anything to do with my looks.
02:08It is beyond my control.
02:10I mean, I can make it better.
02:12As a normal human, I would not want to make it worse.
02:15But there is nothing about my looks and that I had control over.
02:19So when people say that XYZ is only possible because she looks like this,
02:24I feel so bad.
02:26Where I shouldn't feel bad.
02:27I should take it as a compliment.
02:29Correct.
02:29Like, thank you to my grandparents, my family, the genes,
02:33Kashmiri genes and Pakistani genes, whatever have.
02:37But just to kind of dilute everything that I've done,
02:41all the hours of effort, education, background, lack of sleep,
02:47fighting with everyone to get here, just to be like,
02:50oh, she is this because of what's it called?
02:53Makes it frivolous.
02:54Face card.
02:56Face card.
02:56Yeah, that face cutting makes it very frivolous because
03:00this is beyond my control and I have controlled everything to reach here.
03:04So I do feel really, really bad.
03:06But you know, the only people who have commented are people without a face on Instagram.
03:13Like there are these bots.
