00:00You have spoken about a common sense diplomatic doctrine, so what's a Trump-Modi doctrine
00:08that you should expect from the leaders?
00:11To make our world better and safer?
00:13Well, I think more than anything else will be the unity.
00:16We have great unity.
00:17We have great friendship, he and I and our countries.
00:21And I think it's only going to get closer, but it's very important that we remain united
00:26as countries.
00:28We're friends and we're going to stay that way.
00:30Mr. President, how are you going to fight China if you're going to be tough with India
00:36on trade?
00:37How are you going to beat China then?
00:38We're in very good shape to beat anybody we want, but we're not looking to beat anybody.
00:44We're looking to do a really good job.
00:46We've done a fantastic job for the American people.
00:49We had a great four years and we were interrupted by a terrible administration, absolutely terrible.
00:56They didn't know what they were doing, and now we're putting it back together.
00:59And I think it's going to end up being much stronger than it was before, even much stronger
01:04than it was before.
01:05President Trump, first of all, congratulations for the fantastic 24 days of your presidency.
01:18I'm particularly impressed by the exposé on USAID.
01:31And I would like you to share with us if you think USAID had a role in election interference
01:38in the U.S. in 2020 and Indian elections in 2024.
01:45So it could have had a role.
01:46There were a lot of bad things that happened in 2020.
01:51I think bad things happened in 2024, but it was too big to rig.
01:55We won by a tremendous margin.
01:58We won every swing state.
01:59We won the popular vote by millions of votes.
02:04So it was too big to rig.
02:06But yeah, I think they probably tried.
02:08We're looking to go to a system now much different, where one-day voting, voter ID,
02:14and you just — we have to do that.
02:17And paper ballots.
02:18We want paper ballots.
02:21And when they do that, we're going to clean it up very, very well.
02:23But we had a great 2016.
02:26We had a much better 2020 election, but bad things happened.
02:32And we had the best of all.
02:33We had, they say, the most consequential in history — 129 years, most consequential.
02:40So it was a great election.
02:42And it gives me a chance to work again with the prime minister and India, and we're going
02:47to be — we're going to have a great relationship together.
02:50Do you see India playing a role in your plan to broker peace in Ukraine?
03:07And if I could ask you about a development in your hometown today, the U.S. attorney
03:11has resigned over the DOJ's request to drop the case into Eric Adams.
03:16Did you personally request the Justice Department to drop that case?
03:19No, I didn't.
03:21You know nothing about it.
03:22I did not.
03:23I think that, just to answer your other question, we're just going to get along well, we're
03:30going to get along with all countries, we're going to do very well.
03:34We're going to be doing, I think, record business, record numbers.
03:38And we're going to work with India also.
03:39We have some very big trade deals to announce in the very near future.
04:09And Mr. President, what you would like to say about the Bangladesh issue?
04:19Because we saw, and it is evident, that how the deep state of United States was involved
04:23to regime change during the Biden administration, and then Muhammad Yunus made junior sorrows
04:29also.
04:30So what is your point of view about the Bangladesh?
04:33And what is the role that the deep state played in the situation in Bangladesh?
04:36Well, there was no role for our deep state.
04:39It was, this is something that the prime minister has been working on for a long time
04:44and has been worked on for hundreds of years, frankly.
04:46I've been reading about it.
04:48But I will leave Bangladesh to the prime minister.
05:52As far as the Russia-Ukraine conflict is concerned, I'm very happy that President Trump has taken
06:01initiatives to restore peace and had telephone calls with President Putin and President Zelensky.
06:08The world had this thinking that India somehow is a neutral country in this whole process.
06:13But this is not true.
06:14India has a side, and that side is of peace.
06:18On the very first day, I have been talking about the importance of dialogue and diplomacy
06:23and a peaceful solution.
06:24And when I met President Putin in the presence of media, I had told him that this is not
06:29the era of war.
06:30And I have firm conviction that problems cannot be resolved on the battlefield.
06:34The two sides will have to come to the negotiating table.
06:37I just want to add to that.
06:56We had a very good phone call yesterday with President Putin.
07:00It lasted maybe an hour and a half.
07:04It was excellent.
07:05And I think we went a long way toward getting a solution to the horrible war where so many
07:10people are being killed, especially soldiers on the battlefield.
07:15At least a million and a half soldiers have been killed on a ridiculous war that would
07:19have never happened if I were president.
07:22But we've got a long way to – I think we've got a long way to solving it.
07:27Tomorrow, there's a meeting in Munich, and then next week there's a meeting in Saudi
07:33Arabia, not with myself or President Putin, but with top officials.
07:38And Ukraine will be a part of it too.
07:41And we're going to see if we can end that war.
07:42That war is a horrible war.
07:44It's a vicious, bloody war.
07:45We want to end it.
07:47To your other question, that U.S. attorney was actually fired.
07:51I don't know if he or she resigned, but that U.S. attorney was fired.
07:56Okay, go ahead.
07:57What is the role that you expect India to play for vis-a-vis U.S. competition with China
08:09and in your broader vision for peace in the Middle East?
08:14Well, I think we're doing very well in our competition with everybody.
08:16I think you're going to see a nation that really is going forward at a very rapid pace.
08:22Our economy is going to be fantastic.
08:24We're doing things to make it that way.
08:26We announced some very big elements today of success.
08:30I call it an element of success.
08:33Reciprocal tariffs, so that if somebody charges us,
08:37we charge them the same amount,
08:39which has never been done in our country before.
08:41We've always been taken advantage of by other countries,
08:45and we allow that to happen foolishly,
08:46but we're not going to allow that any longer.
08:50So I think we're going to do very well.
08:53We've been doing a last...
08:55They say the last three weeks was among the best three weeks
08:58ever for a start in a presidency.
09:01There's never been anything like it.
09:03And when you see what we've been able to do in three weeks,
09:05people are really amazed.
09:07Even the prime minister mentioned it.
09:09I think other countries are looking at it.
09:11But I just want to thank everybody for being here.
09:15This is a terrific man.
09:16We're going to make some wonderful trade deals
09:18for India and for the US.
09:20And thank you all very much.
