00:00The action in UWAP Volleyball will start again

00:04because the season 87 will start this coming weekend.

00:07On the opening of the new edition of the league,

00:10many will be aiming for the finalists

00:13of the last season of the National University Lady Bulldogs

00:16and the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses.

00:19What will the powerhouse teams bring

00:23to their companies this year?

00:26Let's find out with teammate Rafael Bandayren.

00:32As the new season of UWAP Women's Volleyball starts,

00:37the National University Lady Bulldogs will be the pioneers

00:40in building a dynasty by winning back-to-back titles.

00:44This will also be their last chance to do so

00:47with their star player and captain, Bella Belen.

00:52The season 87 will mark Belen's last season

00:57as a part of the Lady Bulldogs.

01:00That's what the two-time Most Valuable Player

01:04confirmed at the kickoff press conference

01:06of the season 87 Volleyball this Thursday afternoon.

01:10I'm so excited to play today

01:12because this is my final year with NU

01:14and of course we want to do back-to-back

01:17because we didn't do it in 1985.

01:20So now the team's mindset is different

01:23because it's harder to defend the crown

01:25than to steal the crown.

01:27So we told ourselves that we should be ready

01:29for the challenges that each team can face

01:33and at the same time what are the challenges

01:36that we can face as a team.

01:38Like of course there are inside challenges

01:40that don't just come from other teams,

01:42there are also our own.

01:44But of course it won't be easy for the Lady Bulldogs

01:49especially as the U.S.T. Golden Tigers

01:52are chasing redemption.

01:54They almost changed their fate

01:56during the previous season

01:58where they ended up as second placers.

02:02Even though the expectations for the Tigers

02:05are higher now as the finalists of season 86,

02:09according to their captain, Detdet Pipito,

02:12the team's mindset won't change.

02:16Last year, we had no expectations.

02:20We just wanted to enjoy ourselves

02:24and show what we're capable of.

02:27And of course, we won every game.

02:29Because of the injuries,

02:31the losing team and the U.S.T. Golden Tigers

02:33are sure to have players on the bench

02:36who will receive a longer playing time this season.

02:39Some of her teammates,

02:42like third-year outside hitter, Regina Jurado,

02:45are confident that they will get their form back.

02:49As of now, I'm still a bit shy.

02:53But for sure, this coming,

02:56when they have the experience,

03:00when they embrace the pressure,

03:02for sure, it will be closer.

03:06The U.S.T. campaign will start on Saturday,

03:10February 15 at Mall of Asia Arena,

03:13where they will face Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraus.

03:17On Sunday, the first game of the defending champion, NU,

03:21against De La Salle University Lady Spikers

03:24at Mall of Asia Arena.

03:26Rafael Bandeirel, for Atletang Pilipino,

03:29for a new Philippines.
