00:21celebrating his 50th birthday and so I think from all of us at Gulf News we wish you a

00:27happy birthday and say congratulations on being the oldest man on the team. Long may

00:35this continue because you still look fitter than all of us put together. I hope you had

00:41a great trip and very much welcome back. Anas, how are you doing? Thank you very much Matt.

00:46Thank you for the kind introduction. Yes, I had a great time. I can't complain as much

00:51as I could thank God it would be less but great to be back with you beautiful people

00:54of Gulf News. Okay and obviously we're here to discuss match two of part two of the IPL.

01:04I think it's actually match 31 or something but it was a very interesting match. Let's

01:10start obviously by saying that on paper it looked like RCB were looking to continue their

01:15great form from the first half of the IPL in India. Didn't quite go that way against

01:21KKR to put it ever so subtly. So Anas, what's your quick take on it? Okay, hello beautiful

01:28people of the Gulf News. Hello Mr. Satish. Hello Mr. Shyam. Hi Sahil and the two youngsters

01:34from different teams that is KKR. We had Abhijit who must be smiling as well as Hussain a little

01:39disappointed from RCB. Well, I thought it would be an El Clasico because both captains

01:44were strong. Owen Morgan of England as well as Virat Kohli of India and one captain had

01:49to prove a point. It was Owen Morgan's team all the way. They just whitewashed RCB in

01:53this game and to win by nine wickets and win in almost less than 10 overs shows that they

01:58are up and running in the second place. Yeah and absolutely. Shyam, I'll come to you first

02:04as well. That RCB backing show was, I think it's the worst they've had this season. Is

02:11that a worry? And then we'll quickly go, we'll do the rounds very quickly and we'll just

02:16see what everybody has to say. It is a worry because it's really the manner in which they

02:21capitulated is a worry because none of the batsmen showed any inclination to stay at

02:26the wicket even. Actually, they were 51 for 3 at that point and that's when the rod set

02:31in and I would have expected at least somebody to angle the innings so that the rest of the

02:36guys could play around. Actually, yesterday it's a CSK match. We had Rithiraj Gaikwad

02:41show exactly how to do it and if an angster can show the way, I'm at a loss to know why

02:50RCB couldn't do the same again here. So, it's a worry but I'm sure they'll go back and check

02:57where it all went wrong and they'll come charging back because after all, this is the best season

03:03they've had in recent times and also perhaps the best chance to win the trophies. So, I'm

03:08sure the RCB will go back to the drawing board and come back stronger in the next game.

03:15I'll go quickly to Hussain because he's our RCB boy. Do you agree there that maybe it's

03:20good to get this defeat under your belt so that you can get that reality check and then

03:24push on from there? That's very true. The loss has come to us at the very start because it

03:31happens to the teams where they lose in their playoffs or finals but I'm glad this loss has

03:37come early in the stage. But the way Kohli started that punch, I felt today it's his day

03:43but then the wickets kept piling on, piling on, piling on and 92, that's it. I thought 92 wasn't

03:50such a great score and to defend that would be really tough. And Abhijit, obviously you see

03:57things slightly differently. The smile is going from ear to ear. How did you see that and is this

04:03a good chance for KKR to finally get back up the table? Sorry, I'm lagging a little bit. Say it

04:09again. So, you're just saying is this a good chance now that you're smiling ear to ear to get up the

04:14table? Yes, absolutely. We're coming from behind at the moment. We have fifth on the table so it

04:20looks good. And obviously we had a bit of a bit of a bit of a chew in the first half where middle

04:28order was challenged a lot. But surely we got a new opener who has done exceptionally well

04:35and Varun Chakravorty, nevertheless, a guy for tonight. I'm very happy with him.

04:44And Saheel, who was your star man there? Obviously we had the two great batsmen there but

04:51there was a few good bowlers in there as well. Well, yeah, I mean the way I think Andre Russell

04:56was bowling, like it was unplayable deliveries to Maxwell, De Villiers, first ball, duck, you know,

05:02you don't see that very often. Two big stars, you know, they got out early and it started from

05:07Andre Russell getting the two wickets and then obviously as Abhijit mentioned, Varun Chakravorty

05:13is the mystery spinner. It was just, I don't know what the ball was doing, the wicket was doing for

05:18RCB, like they were not able to time the ball. It was not coming on to the bat so it was definitely

05:24not RCB's day. And Satish, finally but not leastly, how did you see that go on?

05:32I mean, you were quite to the point, shall I say, in your tweets earlier on our webcast,

05:38saying that they were an absolute mess and things like this and it was a disaster. So

05:43what's your take on this and how did they move on from here? No, I think first and foremost,

05:48both the captains basically, yesterday and today, Kohli and Dhoni, I think they messed

05:54with the wicket slightly. These are fresh wickets. These are unused wickets. And if you look at both

06:00the innings, at the first 10 overs, the ball was doing something. After that, it eased a bit. So

06:06the difference between yesterday and today was, Ritharaj, as Shyam also said, Ritharaj was there

06:13holding one end. So you were not losing wickets from both ends. Whereas today, Devdutt Padikkal

06:20was doing beautifully. He was playing some wonderful shots and he was showing the same form.

06:26These wickets, initially, you need to play copy book play. It's not those, you can come and play

06:31your shots and go on from there. No. These are wickets where you need to get your eye in. A

06:35traditional one-day game or a test match wicket. So Devdutt Padikkal was doing very well and he

06:43played a very, very bad shot at the wrong time, which set in the entire… It literally opened

06:49up floodgates so that you started losing wickets from both ends after that.

06:54Okay. And back to the man of the moment, birthday boy, Anas. We're now two games in. There's four

07:04teams still to play. Are we starting to see how things are going to pan out?

07:09Oh yes. You saw yesterday's game, like Satish mentioned, that the wickets in the first half

07:16does a little bit. You've got to read the wickets well. But if you can get your eye in, then there

07:20is runs for there. Now, with the two games, if you see, even though CSK won first defending 160,

07:28but RCB were nowhere in the game. So I'm sure tomorrow's match, which is going to happen in

07:33Dubai between RR versus Punjab, they will have learned that if they're going to bat first,

07:38they will probably take a little bit of time before they start scoring. And we hope that we

07:43get some exciting cricket. Because if you have to ask me, both the matches probably were not

07:48that close, even though yesterday's match was a little bit. But we need some

07:52cliffhangers as we had in the first half.

07:55Okay. And I'll leave the last little words to our two special guests, Abhijit and Roy.

08:02You had some great interchanges there online. We saw lots of cheeky gifs going back and forward

08:11of rushing off the shoulders and laughing in the faces. Now, obviously, Abhijit, you got the last

08:20laugh. But do you think that going into your next time, will you have the same confidence?

08:26I'll ask you that. Could you repeat again?

08:35All right. You need to turn up your volume or clean your ears. Just saying that you had some

08:41great exchanges today with Hussain. And you got the last laugh. Do you think that you'll get the

08:47last laugh next time?

08:49Oh, yeah, for sure. This team looks very reunited. And hopefully, they'll carry this momentum

08:56forward for the rest of this tournament. And I would love to see them on the knockout stage.

09:01And I think, as I said before, the table's gonna turn upside down. It seems like it's on its way.

09:13So, I would not be stable if I was MI captain or our captain.

09:21Okay. Well, you did say the table would turn upside down. And you got quite a few laughs from

09:26our fellow followers and readers for that one. Hussain himself said, I can't hear you cheering

09:34from up here at the top of the table on the live streams. So, Hussain, are you still got

09:38your confidence that you'll see it soon?

09:40Oh, yes, absolutely. I think RCBI has got one of the best batting lineups in the world.

09:48Doesn't happen every day where everybody fails. We surely gonna rock it again on Friday. We'll

09:57be back. And I think inclusion of Hassaranga is a very good one in terms of a good all-rounder,

10:02batsman, bowler, and even a very good fielder. So, let's hope for the best.

10:18Yeah, I think the good thing is, as Kohli rightly said,

10:23Warren has lived up to the expectations. And now he'll be the trump card for India in the

10:30World Cup, which again, will be played on those same wickets. So, that's a good sign for India

10:39looking forward to the World Cup. But apart from that, as Anisbhai said, we need to see more

10:46cliffhangers, more superovers. And of course, the next game, RCBI will be facing Chennai.

10:54And hopefully, they will click on the Sharjah ground, I think. Yeah. So, let's see. It's just

11:02warming up now. Hopefully, it will heat up in the next few days.
