00:00A few weeks ago in the Philippines regarding the improvement of the environment,
00:04First Lady Lisa Araneta Marcos led the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai.
00:12Here, she particularly promoted the historic rehabilitation of the Pasig River.
00:18Under the Pasig River, she gave life again to the project.
00:21Ken and Patientes in the center of the news.
00:25In her visit to the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai,
00:30First Lady Araneta Marcos praised the successful administration
00:35in improving the environment,
00:38particularly the historic rehabilitation of the Pasig River
00:42which became possible because of the inter-agency of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:47Unfortunately, no one really took care of the river and its environs.
00:53And over the years, it has become a sight for sore eyes.
00:58It was polluted, dirty, stinky, and every other adjective you could think of.
01:03The First Lady also witnessed the signing of their agreement
01:06between the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
01:10and the Clean Rivers Organization of the UAE.
01:13Here, the UAE donated US$20 million for the continuation of the Pasig River Give Life Again Project.
01:21And now, thanks to the assistance provided by the UAE,
01:26especially Clean Rivers, which is an Earth Zayed initiative.
01:30Thank you very much again.
01:32We just signed the MOU earlier.
01:37We will be able to clean our river and hopefully make it a showcase,
01:42much like the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok or the Sien in Paris.
01:47The First Lady also reiterated the importance of a public-private partnership
01:52for the fulfillment of such initiatives.
01:55These are but three examples of how genuine cooperation between government and the private sector
02:02can help achieve change that is sustainable, meaningful, and inclusive.
02:09As I've always said, government cannot do it alone.
02:13We need to work closely with the private sector if we are going to make a meaningful change.
02:18The First Lady also noted in her message the love for all program of the government
02:24that can provide medical services to Filipinos, especially in remote areas.
02:30Kenneth Paciente for Pambansang TV in Bago, Philippines.
