00:00The supply of rice in Cagayan province is sufficient,

00:03that's what the National Food Authority promised

00:05in the face of the upcoming sale of NFA rice by LGUs.

00:16A big help to the National Food Authority or NFA Cagayan

00:20is the declaration of the Department of Agriculture

00:22of the Food Security Emergency.

00:24Not only will this lower the price of rice in the market,

00:28but also expand it.

00:29The warehouses full of rice were bought last year.

00:33We will start massive milling operations

00:37to decongest our warehouses

00:41because the rice is full of rice.

00:43If this is milled, there will be less rice.

00:47And to ensure that the rice supply in Metro Manila remains sufficient,

00:51the NFA will start looking for those who bought this rice

00:55by March.

00:56But the question is,

00:58will the rice supply in Cagayan not be insufficient

01:01when the rice will be sent to NCR

01:03for the declaration of the Food Security Emergency?

01:06We currently have more than 41,000 bags of stock of rice

01:13that are milled in our warehouses.

01:15So, just in case the Food Security Emergency declares

01:21or declares and implements this,

01:24we are very ready.

01:26We have sufficient stocks.

01:28Aside from the 41,000 bags of rice,

01:31there are 760,000 bags of rice

01:34that are in eight warehouses of Cagayan and Cordillera.

01:37That is equivalent to more than 4,000 bags of rice

01:41at the time of milling.

01:43These steps and preparations of the DA

01:46were only followed by the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marquez, Jr.,

01:50which gave the Filipinos an affordable price of rice.
