00:00The fully functional Airport Operations Control Center of the world's busiest airport was
00:05officially inaugurated on Wednesday by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum,
00:10President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and CEO and Chairman
00:16of the Emirates Group.
00:17The control room, which has 120 staff working in 96 stations with 123 wall screens round
00:24the clock, is capable of processing 7 billion data points every day.
00:29We've continued our journey here at the AOCC of building a capability, an operational capability.
00:36We've increased the number of partners who have come and joined us and decided to co-locate
00:42with us in the control room.
00:44What that means is that with more and more of our critical partners sitting with us in
00:49the same control room, sharing the same information, observing the operation through the same lens,
00:55we're able to make real-time decisions about what happens within our operation, making
01:00it more efficient, making it safer, and of course providing the best possible experience
01:05for the millions of passengers that trust us with their journeys.
01:08Central to the AOCC is Realtime DXV, a cloud-powered platform that monitors airport operations
01:15in real-time.
01:17Capable of visualizing traffic flows as well as compiling data generated by more than 50
01:23The platform allows the airport operator to better manage day-to-day operations and deliver
01:28a more refined experience for passengers passing through the airport's terminals.
01:32That is one of our biggest, most significant roles, it's the coordination with our partners.
01:36To do anything here, to do anything complex requires significant coordination and the
01:40AOCC really represents the heart of that coordination.
01:44If you think of us, if you think of the airport as an orchestra, the AOCC and the AOCC Director
01:48is the conductor of that orchestra.
01:50So we are giving information to our partners, we are communicating with our partners and
01:54we are orchestrating a response.
01:55The function covers everything, not only the airport.
01:59We also have a responsibility around the road network, so we work very closely with RTA
02:04to make sure that all the roads that come into Dubai International are clear.
02:08If there are accidents or major traffic jams which may affect the operation, then we'll
02:12work with our partners to clear those.
02:14We'll direct police to go and adjust the traffic light signals and to adjust the traffic.
02:21Because we have such a peaky operation and because Dubai Airport has grown so significantly,
02:26what we find is that the infrastructure is often under quite a bit of stress.
02:32So we need to manage the road network, the signals, the metros, the taxis.
02:40We don't do it ourselves, we work with police and we work with RTA to make sure that there's
02:43a very smooth flow of transport, private and public, into the airport.
