00:00To celebs reacting to Kanye West's anti-Semitism and his sale of a t-shirt, or his attempt,
00:09or he did sell it for about 24 hours, a swastika t-shirt on Yeezy.com, which has been shut
00:16down now.
00:17Well, here's the response that a lot of people saw online from several celebrities, including
00:22Drake and Scarlett Johansson, Jerry Seinfeld.
00:26Maybe your eye has already picked up what's happening here, that this is not really those
00:32celebrities.
00:33Yes, it's their faces, but this whole thing was put together through AI.
00:37Someone posted this online.
00:40The shirt, by the way, they're giving the middle finger to Kanye, but it didn't really
00:45happen.
00:46And while the message a lot of people may be on board with, even the celebrities themselves
00:50may be on board with, they're not really thrilled, some of them, about the fact that AI was used
00:55this way, and that their image was used through AI.
00:58Because this was a huge issue in Hollywood for a lot of these people during the strike,
01:05that they were concerned about how AI was going to be used in Hollywood.
01:08This is not produced by a studio, obviously, but it's kind of like, they agree with the
01:15message, but they don't agree with the messenger.
01:18You know what my problem with this is?
01:19And I know Scarlett Johansson and others have been-
01:21Scarlett Johansson in particular.
01:23Criticizing this, and I get it on a level, but what it does is, like you just said-
01:28By the way, they made Drake a lot skinnier.
01:31But I mean, you're right.
01:32I mean, I think a lot of them might agree with the message, they don't like the messenger.
01:38But then it takes away from the whole Kanye debate and then gets into movies and how movies
01:44are made.
01:46And I think that, not the moment that we're talking about.
01:49No, correct.
01:50But the biggest person who had an issue with this was Scarlett Johansson.
01:54She released a statement, actually, basically saying that she's a Jewish woman, obviously
01:58against all the anti-Semitism and hate speech, but she's upset with just the use of AI.
02:04And this has been her thing for a while, because remember, we covered it.
02:07She threatened some AI company, there was a lawsuit threatened, I don't know if she
02:11ever actually filed, but they were essentially using her voice.
02:15So she's trying to say this is just a bigger issue in society that we have going on with
02:19AI.
02:20It's the slippery slope, right?
02:22Scarlett clearly is looking at it, and you're saying ignore the slippery slope for now and
02:29address the anti-Semitism.
02:30Right.
02:31But, you know, I get the bigger issue, but to me, it's sort of like that's the brave
02:34new world that we're talking about.
02:35The other thing that's really interesting to me, I don't know, whenever I hear Scarlett
02:38Johansson and AI, I think about her.
02:41Well, that was what was happening, that was the thing she's threatened over, that someone
02:46was basically using her voice in a her-type...
02:49Right.
02:51Applying it.
02:52But the movie itself was kind of a precursor to what was to come.
02:56Indeed.
02:57And what is to come.
02:58Yes.
02:59Hi, my name's Bella.
03:00I'm in Canada.
03:01I feel like deepfake AIs have become very controversial, especially when they're being
03:06used for the wrong reasons.
03:08I understand the point that they're trying to make, but I feel like they went about it
03:11wrong and I definitely do feel like they're pulling away from the whole Kanye controversy.
03:16Yeah, I think you're right.
03:17By the way, what do you think about your country becoming the 51st state, maybe?
03:22I'm not too thrilled about that, actually.
03:26I think you'll be fine.
03:28I think you're not alone.
03:29Yeah, that too.
