00:00Good day, welcome to the Gulf News update for Thursday January 12th. Here are the top
00:06stories at this hour.
00:08Donald Trump attacked US intelligence agencies and the media last night as he denied explosive
00:13allegations about his ties to Russia. The president-elect however admitted for the first
00:18time that Moscow had likely meddled in the US election. Trump also said he had ceded
00:24complete managing control of his global property empire to his two adult sons, but stopped
00:29short of making a full divestment.
00:31It's all fake news, it's phony stuff, it didn't happen, he said, referring to allegations
00:36of his lurid behaviour in a Moscow hotel room.
00:40Syria's government has reached a deal for the army to enter a rebel-held area near Damascus
00:44and restore the capital's water supply. Opposition sources denied there was any such deal, but
00:49a source at the Wadi Baradar region reported that several hundred civilians were leaving
00:54under an agreement. The reported deal comes after weeks of fighting in the region near
00:58Damascus, which had threatened a fragile truce in place since December 30th.
01:03The mini-communities in Dubai land should see the maximum number of home handovers this
01:08year, more than 7,000 units, and with a majority of them in the mid-tier pricing range. A new
01:14UAE reality update from Camreddish Maxwell reckons it will be followed by Business Bay
01:18and Dubai Sport City, both accounting for more than 4,000 units each. Dubai land was
01:24the leader last year too, accounting for between 2,800 and 3,200 units.
01:30Elton John has postponed his Dubai concert next week to December 8th. It's the second
01:35time John has had to reschedule the show due to his health. He has now been advised by
01:40doctors to schedule a medical procedure to treat his condition immediately, according
01:44to a statement. Fans can avail refunds through original point of sale, though tickets purchased
01:49will be honoured for the new date.
01:52And finally, the weather. Today's high across the UAE will be 23 degrees Celsius, dropping
01:56to 15 degrees at night. That's it for now. Thank you for watching. We will be back with
02:00the newscast on Sunday, but you can always get the latest news on golfersnews.com.
