00:00I've been in Dubai all my life and Yas and me met through a common friend.
00:14So we've known each other a few years, we've been friends, we've partied together and it
00:19was a friend and my husband's birthday and we were having it in Goa and we happened to
00:24sit next to each other and we were just chatting.
00:26I'm like, why are you not in Dubai?
00:29Like you're so amazing and I love everything you do and I have actually tried training
00:34in her studio in Bombay and everyone here knows you, so why are you not in Dubai?
00:39So she was like, good idea, let's do it.
00:43I've been in the fitness industry for about 25 years and I was just looking for something
00:50which was revolutionary to the abdominals because everyone manages to get everything
00:56else working and when it comes to the abs, people are struggling.
01:00So we tried 500 sit-ups and reverse crunches and abdominal exercises and I even reached
01:07a thousand and it didn't help and I was researching and finding out and I discovered Pilates.
01:15Just the way Pilates made me feel was completely different from anything I'd felt or experienced
01:23before and I've done everything from CrossFit to functional training to yoga.
01:27It's like it merged everything into one and gave you that.
01:32You, me, a 10-year-old, a 100-year-old, everybody from the age of 10 to 100.
01:41Pilates is great if you're a sports person, if you need rehab, if you have a back, knee,
01:47hip, shoulder injury, if you're an obese person, if you're a skinny person, if you're a super
01:54fit person, if you're a completely unfit person.
02:01In their own way, they're all tough because they all have expectations of how they want
02:06to look, they have time frames, they know like when Katrina was doing Chikni Chamele,
02:13the dance, she said, even if one thing jiggles, you're dead, she says to him.
02:19And she really moved in that song.
02:22So that's a lot of stress for me.
02:26Lucky for them, I don't take stress easily.
02:29I can just brush it off.
02:32So they're all tough with what they want and they're tough on themselves.
02:38So I can't complain and say they're tough on me because it's just part of being part
02:43of their process.
02:45You know, when they look good on screen and they get appreciated, I feel really great
02:50as well.
02:51So it's worth it.
02:58People always want a diet.
02:59Okay, this is the funniest thing, can you give me a diet?
03:03And I always ask them, what's your age?
03:06Someone will say 30, someone will say 40, someone says 50, 20.
03:10I'm like, so you're 20 years old and you don't know how to eat for your body or you're 40
03:15years old and seriously, you need me to tell you?
03:19So are you smart?
03:21Is my next question to them and everyone is smart.
03:24So then why are you not smart about the choices you make in life?
03:28So I just make them realize which foods are good, which foods are bad, which foods work
03:34for them by trying it out and then make their own food plan because that is what will help
03:40them sustain it for a longer time.
03:43Diets don't last.
03:44I think people tend to compare themselves to someone else more than try to improve themselves.
03:51So it's always like Katrina's abs and Alia lost a lot of weight or, you know, how does
03:55she look like that?
03:56We were having this experience just the other day when we were saying that, you know, she
04:00always wants to look like someone else.
04:02So why don't you want to be a better version of you and try to improve yourself versus
04:06just trying to always be like the third person?
04:09Your body is yours.
04:10Yeah.
04:11It's unique.
04:12You know, so either you can be a better version of yourself, which is Aton's logo, or you
04:17can be fit because you deserve it, which is body, which is logo.
04:21Which both bottle down to the exact same thing.
04:26Every workout has a science and the science is great, but people are taking it to such
04:31levels like they have a they have a throw up wall.
04:34So if you throw up after a CrossFit workout, your name goes up on the board and you've
04:39achieved something.
04:40They make you work out till there's so much lactic acid build up that you throw up.
04:45And for me, it's it's just not OK.
04:50I mean, you know, I wouldn't want to do that to anybody because I want people to feel great.
04:55But the people who throw up, I mean, having said that, feel great that they threw up.
04:59So it's actually kind of an achievement.
05:01Yeah, it's a win-win.
05:04And it also depends what you're looking for at that point in your life.
05:07So if someone's looking for CrossFit, I'm not going to go and try and convince that
05:12person that, hey, you know what, Pilates is great.
05:14Like I said, they won't like it.
05:16They want that adrenaline rush.
05:19So it's what you're looking for.
05:20And I just want to say, we're right here, Pilates.
05:24Whenever you're done with whatever you're doing, come to us.
05:27We'll take care of you.
05:32I've been doing CrossFit for a while, and as much as I really enjoy it, it has a lot
05:39of negative publicity going on about it, where they try to make people do the similar kind
05:45of exercises at different levels.
05:48But I don't want people coming to my studio and feeling intimidated with the fact that
05:53they need to finish everything with the numbers as much as everybody else in the room has
05:58to do.
05:59So we came up with CrossKit, which is like a circuit-based training.
06:04It's time-based.
06:05So eventually, we'd say 10 minutes of burpees, whereby maybe she can do 100 and I can do
06:11a 20, for example.
06:13But at least we're all doing the same exercise, but we have our levels, which the trainer
06:18understands.
06:23So I have five mantras.
06:24One is move.
06:25One is strength train, drink water, eat smart, which we just spoke about, and the most important
06:33is your attitude.
06:36You know, if you have a positive attitude, you can conquer anything.
