00:08The trial for a suspect accused of killing 8-year-old boy Hrobaida Sedqi after sexually
00:13assaulting him started in a Dubai court today. The Jordanian suspect Nidal Isa Abdullah admitted
00:19in the first hearing that he raped and killed the boy, and also confessed to driving his
00:23car under the influence of alcohol.
00:25Dubai's Attorney General said last week that prosecutors would seek a death sentence against
00:30the suspect.
00:31The UN says conflict in places like Syria and Afghanistan raised the total number of
00:36refugees and internally displaced people worldwide to reach a record 65.3 million at the end
00:42of 2015.
00:43Meanwhile, in Iraq, aid workers are scrambling to cope with a massive influx of Iraqi civilians
00:49who fled Fallujah after government forces retook much of the city from Daesh.
