00:29To be an Etoile it's hard because when you start you start from the corp of ballet and
00:36you have to make a competition each year inside of the company to grow in five different levels.
00:44So there is not a lot of contracts you know sometimes to be a first dancer you have only
00:52one contract and you have ten girls.
00:56The performances will take place on the 8th, 9th and 10th of January and are set to both
01:00transcend the audience and emphasize the technical and artistic abilities of the new generation
01:05of soloists who excel in both classical and modern choreographies.
01:09We have here in Dubai seven or eight spots for the first.
01:16We have Cinderella which is part of the classical ballet.
01:19We have Esmeralda which is a demonstration of the pure technique ballet.
01:23Aubert which was created for Paris Opera Ballet, for Yvette Chauviret which is a very
01:27institutive pas de deux.
01:31And then we have more contemporary pieces with Genius, with Caligula which shows also
01:37what we are able to do in Paris Opera.
01:42The contrast will be intense between the pure romantic style of La Sylphide and the modern
01:47style of the more contemporary pieces Caligula and Notre Dame.
01:52The excerpts from the two latter pieces have been exclusively created for Paris Opera Ballet
01:56and will demonstrate the union between French heritage style ballet and the more modern
02:00French style of ballet being performed today.
02:03I was never bored on stage.
02:05Always I discovered every year something new, new things, how to manage some things on stage
02:11and I was very lucky for that because I was maybe too stupid when I was young just to
02:16be impressed with technique and there is not just that on stage.
02:20I mean artistic is part of the technique, without technique you can't do anything on
02:25stage but you have to develop something more and that's the interesting part of ballet.
02:32This is sure to be a show that Dubai has never seen before and should help to further provide
02:36future generations of dancers in the region with the motivation to excel in the art of
02:40ballet.
02:41I can say that one of the things important on dance is to work a lot, to believe, to
02:53be open to meet people.
02:56I know that maybe one of the girls tomorrow night is going to be in the public and is
03:03going to see the performance and she's going to dream about being a ballerina.
03:11I mean sometimes it's hard, sometimes we have pain, sometimes we cry maybe because
03:16it's too hard but if behind you have something strong and leads you to the 42 years old to
03:25the end of the career then it's really a good moment to be a ballet dancer.
