00:00The Office of the Civil Defense, SOC-SARGEN, is urging the local governments and Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council

00:07to participate in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill as a preparation for the disaster.

00:12Here is the national news of Stephen Patron from the Philippine Information Agency, SOC-SARGEN.

00:19The Office of the Civil Defense, SOC-SARGEN, announced that the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill or NSED this year

00:26will focus on the community's involvement and the assessment of disaster response mechanisms

00:32by local governments and government agencies.

00:36OCD-SOC-SARGEN Information Officer Jory May Balmediano gave the D.A.

00:41the importance of increasing the pace of preparedness, especially by local governments,

00:46through the implementation of drills that will begin in the first quarter of NSED.

00:52He added that the NSED this year will be a functional exercise.

00:56Now, we level it up to a functional type of exercise where we will test the mechanisms that we have taught

01:06all about in the Red Command System, Emergency Operations Center, Response Cluster,

01:11and how well we are prepared in case there is a major earthquake.

01:17OCD-SOC-SARGEN hopes that the Quarterly Earthquake Drill will not be a compliance only

01:23because it also urged the LGUs and their Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council

01:29to focus on the activities through the assessment that the drills are effective

01:35and truly strengthen the awareness of communities in terms of disaster and preparedness in time of need.
