00:12Authorities have warned residents that symptoms of pesticide poisoning may be confused with
00:16that of food poisoning, and that anyone experiencing a sudden fit of vomiting and chest pain should
00:21immediately contact the Food Control and Pest Department.
00:24Khalid Sharif, Director of Food Control Department at Dubai Municipality, says that cases of
00:29pesticide poisoning usually occur in the summer when residents fumigate their homes
00:33against bedbugs and other pests.
00:36Federal and local authorities have stepped up inspections of food outlets to ensure consumers
00:40get the highest quality at the lowest price, particularly during Ramadan.
00:45In an inspection campaign that started yesterday, the Ministry of Economy and the Consumer Protection
00:50Department at the Department of Economic Development in Dubai fanned out a team of inspectors who
00:54will randomly check vendors at the fruit and vegetable market in Al-Aweer.
00:59The US is going ahead with plans to deliver four F-16 fighter jets to Egypt despite the
