A chilly and frosty start for many this morning particularly in Scotland and the south, though some bright conditions will arrive for these areas through the day today. Across much of England, Wales and Northern Ireland, much more drab and dull under a thick layer of cloud, with some drizzle and light rain. Some brisk winds will push into the east of the country this evening, introducing a bitter wind chill and some showers. Feeling rather cold again today. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the morning of 09/02/2025. Bringing you today’s weather forecast is Jonathan Vautrey.

00:00Hello there, very good morning to you. Despite the chilly and slightly frosty start today,
00:05there are some glimmers of sunshine around. Particularly for northern areas of Scotland,
00:09once any freezing fog clears its way off, it will be a very pleasant day to come here.
00:14There's also some brightness across the far south of England as well, though clouds tend
00:17to spill its way in from the east here as further outbreaks of rain move into south
00:22east England later on. But for central areas, it is going to be dull, drab and dreary. Unfortunately,
00:27some pockets of drizzle to watch out for as well. Temperatures will be around six to
00:32eight degrees Celsius, but particularly in the afternoon, we're going to start to see
00:36the return of quite a brisk easterly wind coming in from the North Sea. And that's going
00:41to make it feel quite cold if you're exposed to it. This wind is setting itself up as a
00:46Scandinavian high is very much now established across parts of northern Europe. And as winds
00:52move around in a clockwise direction, that easterly wind is going to be in play even
00:57as we head into the new working week. As we move back into Sunday evening, though,
01:02that easterly wind will bring very extensive areas of cloud with further outbreaks of rain
01:07at times, the more persistent rain across the far south eventually clearing its way
01:10off. Generally further towards the west, there will be some clearer spells around this evening
01:15and overnight, but that will allow for some frost to develop across northwestern areas
01:19of Scotland. And if surfaces do get close to freezing, we could see some localised icy
01:24stretches where things are left untreated and are still wet from any of those showers
01:28that are lingering around. Most of our towns and cities, though, should hold up around
01:32three to four degrees Celsius throughout Monday. Then that easterly wind is going to be bringing
01:37an extensive cloud from the North Sea again with further showers, outbreaks of rain at
01:43times before a snow over higher ground areas as well. It is always going to be out towards
01:48the west, particularly parts of northwestern Scotland, the highlands up towards the outer
01:52Hebrides that are going to hold on to the best of the sunshine once again tomorrow.
01:56Quite another fine and pleasant day to come here. Temperatures underneath that cloud,
02:01though, elsewhere really are going to start to struggle five, six degrees Celsius at best.
02:07But with the wind still increasing in strength, we're going to have to add that as an extra
02:11factor. So it's going to be feeling more like freezing for the vast majority of us as we do
02:17move throughout Monday. So it certainly is going to be one to be wrapping up warm when you are
02:21heading outside. Things look reasonably similar as we had throughout the forthcoming week,
02:26but we'll have plenty more updates on that as we do head over the next few days. So do subscribe
02:31to the YouTube channel for all of those. We'll see you again later on. Bye bye.
