00:00The Philippine Coast Guard or PCG remains committed to safeguarding the maritime rights of the Philippines
00:05despite the continuous aggressive actions of Chinese ships in our Exclusive Economic Zone.
00:10The PCG says it will continue to monitor Philippine waters.
00:14This comes after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his commitment
00:18to protecting the West Philippine Sea despite limited equipment.
00:21PTB's Patrick de Azuz tells us more.
00:25After President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed his stand to protect the West Philippine Sea
00:32despite limited resources, the Philippine Coast Guard assured it will not be deterred in adhering to this policy.
00:39Yesterday, the President emphasized the PCG and AFP will continue to fulfill their mandates
00:47despite the persistent aggressive actions of Chinese vessels in our Exclusive Economic Zone.
00:54We don't have the means to evacuate.
00:56It's not good if we have an aircraft carrier with destroyer, frigate, and submarine.
01:02We will send them there to push them away.
01:06We don't have that.
01:08If it's just a majority of ships, we are far from China.
01:14But our policy is that we will just continue to defend
01:19our sovereign territory and our territorial rights in the EEC.
01:26What is the mission of the Coast Guard? What is the mission of the Navy?
01:29To protect the territorial integrity of the Philippines.
01:32So that's what they will do.
01:34Alongside this is the ongoing modernization efforts
01:38with more new equipment expected to arrive under the administration of President Marcos Jr.
01:45This is the reason why President Marcos last year approved the acquisition of 5 more 97m from Japan
01:52and 40 more vessels that will be coming from France as well.
01:57I think the silver lining of the statement is again to inform the Filipino people
02:03that we are committed in carrying out our patriotic duty in the West Philippine Sea.
02:11In line with this, the PCG's BRP Teresa Magbanwa continued to monitor China Coast Guard Vessel 3304.
02:19Currently, the PCG maintains a distance of 105 to 115 nautical miles
02:26between the Chinese vessel and the shores of Zambales.
02:30Despite high waves reaching 3 to 4 meters, the BRP Teresa Magbanwa remains unfazed.
02:36Relaying through radio challenges the illegal presence of Chinese vessels in the country's EEZ,
02:42a violation of the Philippine Maritime Zones Act, UNCLOS, and the 2016 PCA Arbitral Award.
02:51Two other Chinese vessels, including the monster ship in the vicinity of Bajo de Masinloc, are also under monitoring.
02:59Meanwhile, the PCG responded to the statement of Sagip Pardilis,
03:04Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, who claimed that there is no such thing as a West Philippine Sea.
03:12This was mentioned by our President Bongbong Marcos at the last State of the Nation Address.
03:17This is not just a wild guess.
03:20This statement of a young man who aspires to be a senator
03:26is giving false information to our Filipino countrymen.
03:31Our transparency efforts that we are doing under this administration
03:36is for us to provide correct information to our countrymen
03:42so that we can unite to defend our enemy in the West Philippine Sea.
03:46In 2012, the government officially adopted the term West Philippine Sea
03:51under an administrative order signed by the late former President Noynoy Aquino
03:56covering only part of our EEZ in the South China Sea.
04:00This was reinforced by the Philippine Maritime Zones Act signed by President Marcos Jr. last year.
04:07From the People's Television Network, Patrick de Azuz, Balita, Pabansa.
