00:00I've built my dream desk setup!
00:14So I'm designing a new desk setup around Corsair's new Platform 4.
00:17It's a dark walnut 4 foot height adjustable desk, and I want to use it as the base piece
00:21to give our studio setup the redesign it deserves.
00:24The build process is almost one to one with the Platform 6, but the team has managed to
00:27make it even simpler in some key spots, so now all you need to do is this.
00:31Lay the desktop top down on a soft surface.
00:34Put the left and right legs into place and secure with four of the 15mm M8 bolts for
00:38each leg.
00:39Place the feet on each leg with the long end pointing towards the front of the desk and
00:42secure with the M8 bolts.
00:45Attach the two D-brackets and use the 15mm M6 bolts to secure.
00:49Then the wire management tray can go over the D-brackets and be fastened at the front
00:52with the wingnut screws and at the rear with the 10mm M6 bolts.
00:56If you have the adjustable height controls, use the 15mm M6 bolts to screw the controller
01:00into the left or right side of the desk depending on what you prefer.
01:03Connect the desk leg wires to the power supply at the M1 and M2 ports, the controller to
01:07the HS port and the power supply to the AC port.
01:11Pop the cable management clips into the desk and route the cables for the motors and controller
01:14through them to keep everything secure.
01:16Now grab a buddy and turn the desk over as carefully as you can.
01:19For the top rail assembly, insert two dowel pins into the holes on each side of the desk
01:23and lower a corner support onto the pins.
01:26Then secure the support with a ratcheting bolt.
01:28Now you can slide the top rail over the horizontal T-nut and attach the other corner support
01:32at the other end.
01:33Secure the whole thing by tightening the T-nuts connecting the supports to the rail.
01:37Drop the storage compartment into its slot on the desk and connect the USB cable to the
01:41bottom of the storage compartment to power the USB A and C ports found inside.
01:46Cable trays can be installed behind the wire management tray or to the rail using T-nuts.
01:50Cable channels can also be attached both of these ways to help you hide your wires from
01:53view.
01:55Now for the monitor arm, so remove the small front bolt and loosen the larger screw on
01:58the mounting bracket to open.
02:00Then place over the rail with the pole at the back.
02:02Then obviously retighten the screw and bolt or you'll be very sad in a couple of minutes.
02:06Loosen the lock collar and place it at your desired height, then place the extension arm
02:10and the spring arm.
02:12Remove the bolt and washer from the cover mount, insert to the base of the spring arm
02:15and retighten to secure both arms together.
02:20Then on your VESA compatible monitor, remove the stand and screw the VESA mount plate onto
02:24your monitor.
02:25Now you can just slide the monitor into the opening on the head of the arm and pull the
02:28pin to lock it into place.
02:46To adjust the spring tension on the monitor arm, turn the screw clockwise to remove tension
02:50and anti-clockwise to increase.
02:52Beneath both arms you'll find channels to hide your cables away.
02:56Use that.
02:57Finally, to attach any Elgato accessories, you can do this by attaching an Elgato adapter
03:00directly to the top of the monitor arm post or to the rail system using the silver T-nuts.
03:05One more thing, you can also add a 30 by 70 centimetre extension using the rails on the
03:09side of the desk with optional hanging pegboards for holding backpacks, headphones and whatever
03:13else your little heart might desire.
03:16Oh, right, you're waiting for...
04:46God, if I could eat dark walnut I'd be a happy man.
04:55I mean, I could, but I'd run out of desk quite quickly.
05:01Okay, so what's my take?
05:05Desk good.
05:07Desk really good.
05:09No, okay, I can give you more than that.
05:12In almost any space I can imagine you're going to be working with, if your plan is to game
05:16work, create, that is a definitive choice.
05:21It goes high enough for even these legs to use it as a standing desk, low enough for
05:25the lower limit on every chair that I tested, it's rock solid, it's very prepped for future
05:30expansion and let's not leave it merely out on the table, haha.
05:36It's so pretty.
05:38It's so pretty and for reference on size, I'm used to the Platform 6 so I was kind of wondering
05:43whether this would feel like a bedside table size-wise, but it's like a magic trick.
05:49It's focused without feeling cramped, but it is more than spacious enough to keep my
05:52head clear while I've been working.
05:57Which, you being the last shot of the day, I'm done working.
06:06And this is a brand new gaming PC desk setup, made for me, and it's 10 to 3 in the afternoon.
