00:00In the Pantheon of Aeora, there are 11 deities. Each is associated with a different aspect
00:14of life, but all play a role in the eternal cycle of reincarnation, known as the Wheel.
00:20It is said that the gods reward the souls that lead virtuous lives with a blessed rebirth,
00:26ensuring the slow but steady evolution of all.
00:29The names of the 11 inspire reverence and devotion across all of Aeora.
00:34Abidon, god of crafting and the forge. Barath, god of cycles, doors, and death.
00:41Aethas, god of light and redemption. Gallowain, god of the wilds and the hunt.
00:47Helia, goddess of birds and the sky. Maghrin, goddess of fire and war.
00:53Andra, goddess of water and the moon. Remergand, god of famine, cold, and entropy.
01:01Wal, god of dreams, secrets, and revelations. Skan, god of hatred and rebellion.
01:08And Wotika, goddess of justice, oaths, sovereignty, and vengeance.
01:14There are some who worship more than one god, but most tend to honor the deity most closely
01:19associated with their way of life. Craftsmen, for example, are likely to follow Abidon,
01:25scholars Wal, and hunters Gallowain. It is also not uncommon for people to pray to other gods,
01:32depending on the circumstances. A farmer may pray to Maghrin for protection when their lands are
01:37attacked by a foreign army, or a mercenary may pray to Andra for safe passage when crossing the sea.
01:44Wotika is the most prominent god in Aeora. As the rightful ruler of the entire pantheon,
01:50the Oathbinder was once the most powerful of all deities. At the apex of her strength,
01:56the other gods conspired to vanquish her, ultimately toppling the queen that was from her lofty perch.
02:02She manifests in the world as an avatar known as the Stranger, a leather-skinned elderly woman
02:08clad in tattered finery, intent on punishing those who have broken their oaths.
02:14The Steel Garot, the paladin order devoted to Wotika,
02:17named themselves in tribute to her favorite method of dispensing justice.
02:22Another notable deity is Aethys. Devotion to the Child of Light is particularly widespread
02:27in the Aedirn Empire and its former colony Raidseris, but its history is not without tumult
02:33or controversy. Famously, there was a Raidseran farmer who claimed to be Aethys reborn,
02:39and instigated a war which ended with the unleashing of the Godhammer bomb.
02:44Later, Aethys himself possessed a massive statue and ravaged the Deadfire Archipelago,
02:50leaving death and destruction in his wake. An encounter with a god of Aeora is the most
02:55rare and daunting events a kith could witness in their lifetime. To come face to face with
03:00one of the Eleven is an experience that leaves one shaken and forever changed, pondering its meaning.
03:07To confront a god is to confront the power and mystery and fear of Aeora itself.
03:14Until the next time we meet, may the gods keep your journey safe, for now and for eternity.
03:36you
