00:00Lesson 2. Adirin Empire
00:07From the wild frontier of the Living Lands to the splendid cities of the Old Empires,
00:12Aeora is a world of vast history, a realm whose future trembles with the promise of the Extraordinary.
00:19One event of great significance in its storied history is the rise of the Adirin Empire.
00:25Located in the far west of the known world, Adir is the youngest of the Old Empires.
00:30The story of its people began as early as 300 AI,
00:34with a nomadic human tribe who called themselves Adir, the People of the Deer.
00:39These kith migrated south over many centuries,
00:42before eventually arriving in the tropical land currently known as the Adirin Empire.
00:47The Adirins lived a rudimentary lifestyle, forging unions and competing for resources.
00:53In time, Adir grew to encompass many tribes,
00:56and then a chance encounter with the Elven Kingdom of Kulkland changed the fate of the Adirins forever.
01:03Impressed by the Adirins' fierceness in battle,
01:05the Elves of Kulkland shared their knowledge of agriculture and architecture,
01:09in exchange for military protection.
01:12But despite this early cooperation, coexistence between the humans and elves was often contentious,
01:18and the Kingdom of Kulkland warred intermittently with the Adirin tribes for the next two centuries.
01:23Around 2200 AD, the Adirin tribes unified under one banner, forming the Adirin Kingdom,
01:29in which each tribe leader became an advisor to an elected king,
01:33but still maintained control over their own group.
01:36There was newfound strength in this unity,
01:38and the Adirin Kingdom prevailed in its final war with the Kingdom of Kulkland,
01:42merging the two into the Adirin Empire we know today.
01:46Today, all manner of kith can be found in the modern Adirin Empire,
01:50but most of its population is still comprised of humans and elves.
01:54Due to centuries of intertwined history,
01:56there is no significant cultural divide between the Adirin humans and elves.
02:01They share a culture of tradition and learning,
02:03valuing efficiency, modesty, purity, loyalty, and above all else, duty.
02:10Given these virtues, the most worshipped deity in Adir is Worka,
02:14a goddess whose domain includes justice, oaths, rightful rulership, and vengeance.
02:20Under the divine sanction of Worka, the Adirin Empire is a hereditary monarchy,
02:25granting emperors the ability to advise their descendants even after death.
02:29For Aeora is a place where death is not the end of a soul's journey,
02:33but merely the beginning of a new one.
02:36Until the next time we meet, may the gods keep your journey safe.
02:41For now, and for eternity.
