00:00Hello and welcome to your economic meeting on Median.
00:13We start with national news.
00:15Strengthen the financial education and economic inclusion of women working in the maritime fishing sector.
00:22This is the objective of the agreement protocol signed between the United Nations
00:27for the Equality of Sexes and the Autonomization of Women in Morocco.
00:31And the Moroccan Agricultural Credit Group, on the margins of the Aliotis Salon in Agadir.
00:36This partnership aims to promote and encourage the economic autonomy of women
00:41operating in the Aliotic sector in accordance with the high royal orientations
00:45and the axes of the Aliotis strategy.
00:48By virtue of this protocol, the two parties plan to support women fishermen
00:52carrying out an activity related to the fishing sector in the areas of Tetouan, Medir and Maltil,
00:57by facilitating their access to management tools, financing and markets
01:02in order to strengthen their participation in the local economy
01:05and to contribute to the development of sustainable Aliotic value chains.
01:09This collaboration contributes to the achievement of sustainable development objectives,
01:13including the ODD-5 on gender equality,
01:17the ODD-10 on the reduction of inequalities
01:20and finally the ODD-14 on the preservation and sustainable use of oceans and marine resources.
01:27Still in the Kingdom, the National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water
01:31announced that it had finalized the financing of the Al Wahda power plant,
01:35located in the province of Wazan.
01:37This power plant, which will use natural gas as a source of transitory energy,
01:42will play a key role, with the aim of reaching 52% of renewable energy
01:47in Morocco's electric mix by 2030.
01:50According to the UN, the financing of this strategic project
01:53is based on an innovative and diversified structuring,
01:56appealing to the capital markets,
01:58marking a first of its kind in the Kingdom.
02:01This structured financing is articulated around two debt funds,
02:05FlexEnergie and NorEnergie,
02:07in addition to the contribution of the consortium of bankers
02:10consisting of Atijali Wafa Bank and Bank of Africa.
02:13This innovative scheme, which enabled the financing of the Al Wahda project,
02:17of a total investment of 4.2 billion dirhams,
02:21reinforces the diversification of financing sources
02:24and places the office as a pioneering actor
02:27in the use of debt funds for the development of strategic infrastructures.
02:32The British airline Jet2 announced this Thursday
02:36the launch of two new links to Morocco,
02:39which will be added to its winter program 2025-2026,
02:43starting from Bournemouth and Leeds,
02:45to Agadir and Marrakech, respectively.
02:48According to the company, this decision follows
02:51the continued demand for Balneair holidays and urban escapades in the Kingdom,
02:55specifying that it will now operate to Morocco
02:58from eight airports in the United Kingdom.
03:01Jet2 stressed that Agadir wins the palm of the most popular Balneair escapade in Morocco.
03:07A weekly service will therefore be set up every Tuesday
03:10at the departure of Bournemouth to Agadir
03:12from November 4, 2025 to March 24, 2026.
03:17The new flights from Marrakech to the departure of Leeds-Bradford airport
03:21will start on October 3, 2025 until April 28, 2026.
03:26Staying in the United Kingdom, the Labour Government
03:29announced Thursday the implementation of new performance measures
03:33aimed at public services.
03:35These measures now risk dismissal
03:37if they do not make enough savings in their services.
03:41These measures are part of the efforts
03:43deployed by the Cabinet Office,
03:45the ministry that oversees government action
03:48to create a more agile and modern state.
03:51As part of this new policy,
03:53public administration agencies will have to meet new objectives,
03:57such as being able to demonstrate
03:59that they have made savings in operation.
04:02The most efficient will be rewarded with a bonus.
04:05Those who fail to realize the so-called savings
04:08will integrate a programme dedicated to performance development
04:11and if no change is identified in their way of managing their services,
04:15they could be dismissed.
04:17In Europe, still the former chief economist of the FMI,
04:21Olivier Blanchard expressed his concerns
04:23about the budgetary situation in France.
04:26He fears an intervention of the FMI in the country
04:29if the efforts to control public spending remain insufficient.
04:33According to the economist,
04:34this year the markets understood the political constraints
04:37and accepted this budget which is better than nothing,
04:39but which is not sufficient.
04:41However, he warns that if the hexagon does the same thing next year,
04:45that is to say a minimal effort,
04:47investors could begin to doubt the country's ability to control its budget.
04:52The FMI in such a scenario would have the mission
04:56to take measures that politicians would not be able to put in place.
05:00Direction of the United States,
05:02customs rights imposed by China as compensation
05:05against Trump's decision could lead to a drop in US oil exports in 2025,
05:12a first since the COVID-19 pandemic.
05:15American crude exports have been multiplied by more than 10
05:19since the United States lifted a 40-year federal ban in 2015
05:24on the export of national oil.
05:27This helped the United States become the third world exporter
05:31behind Saudi Arabia and Russia,
05:33mitigating the global impact of the production reductions
05:36decided by the Organization of Oil Exporting Countries and its allies.
05:41For China, the impact is probably limited
05:44since American imports accounted for 1.7% of the country's total crude imports in 2024,
05:51worth about $6 billion, according to Chinese customs data,
05:56and down by 2.5% in 2023.
05:59China increased its imports from Canada by about 30% last year
06:05to reach more than 500,000 barrels per day
06:08thanks to the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline.
06:11We close this Economic Diary in Panama.
06:14Panamanian President José Raúl Monino
06:17announced Thursday the withdrawal of 100 countries
06:19from the Chinese infrastructure project of the new Silk Road.
06:23This announcement took place a few days after the visit of the US Secretary of State
06:27to counter Beijing's influence on the inter-oceanic channel.
06:31Monino assured Thursday that the Panama Embassy in Beijing
06:35presented the document to announce the exit of the agreement
06:38with 90 days in advance, as agreed between the parties.
06:42Following this announcement, Rubio described Panama's decision as a big step
06:47to strengthen relations with Washington.
06:50We come to the end of this Economic Diary.
06:52Have a good rest of the program on Median.
