00:06More than three years after his breakup with wife Christine Taylor, the Zoolander co-stars

00:11reconciled during the pandemic, and the reunion is something that Ben admits he did not think

00:16would be possible.

00:18He tells The Hollywood Reporter in an interview published on February 5th,

00:23I didn't expect we were going to get back together, but when we broke up there was a

00:28part of me that wasn't ready to just give up on it.

00:32Ben and Christine got married in 2000, welcoming kids Ella and Quinlan before separating in

00:372017.

00:39For Ben, a major part of their reconciliation was inspired by his late parents' decades-long

00:44romance and working relationship.

00:46He adds,

00:48Probably, a certain amount of that is having watched my parents and I love Christine, I

00:53love my family, and I was not ready to just go, OK, enough of this.

00:59Ben continues, quote,

01:00I also really love hanging out with my family and Christine and having fun together, so

01:06I'm happy that I didn't totally miss the boat on that.

01:10Ben has previously shared insight into his and Christine's reconciliation, noting it

01:14came a year into the pandemic after they decided to continue living together in New York City

01:20amid the lockdowns.

01:22Ben shares with the New York Times in a January 11th interview, quote,

01:26It was almost a year of living in the same house before we were actually together, but

01:31I'm so grateful for it, and I think not that many people do come back together when they

01:36separate.

01:38He continues,

01:39There's nothing like that.

01:40When you come back, you have so much more appreciation for what you have, because we

01:45know we could not have it.
