00:04A longtime host of Andrea Mitchell Reports will step down as a full-time anchor on MSNBC on Friday, Feb. 7.
00:11The news comes after she announced back in October that she would step down from her daily MSNBC show
00:17after the presidential inauguration and will continue to work at NBC News as a correspondent.
00:22The 78-year-old told viewers at the time,
00:24After 16 years of being in the anchor chair every day, I want time to do more of what I love the most,
00:30connecting, listening and reporting in the field, especially as whoever is elected next week
00:36is going to undertake the monumental task of handling two foreign wars and the political divisions here at home.
00:42Her departure marks the end of an era for the network, which launched Andrea Mitchell Reports in 2008,
00:48making it the longest-running show in MSNBC's daytime lineup.
00:52Though she will no longer report daily from the MSNBC desk,
00:55she will remain as NBC News' chief Washington correspondent and chief foreign affairs correspondent, according to People.
