00:00President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. stands firm that his policy to protect the territory of the Philippines will not change
00:07despite the lack in equipment.
00:09Meanwhile, the country together with the United States, Japan, and Australia sailed together for the sixth
00:16multilateral maritime cooperative activity MMCA in the West Philippine Sea.
00:22Let's hear it more from PTV's Patrick de Jesus.
00:25Despite limited resources, President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
00:33firmly asserted his policy to protect the Philippines' territory remains unchanged.
00:38This was the president's response to the continued presence of the monster ship within the country's
00:43exclusive economic zone and the increasing number of China Coast Guard vessels.
00:49Recently, three warships of the PLA Navy also entered Philippine
00:54archipelagic waters. The president emphasized the country's security forces will never be intimidated
01:01simply because of its right to defend its sovereignty.
01:04He further affirmed that the Philippines will maintain its presence in the West Philippine Sea.
01:34Meanwhile,
01:54various joint naval exercises were conducted on Wednesday
01:58involving Philippine, American, Japanese, and Australian vessels in the West Philippine Sea,
02:04particularly in the southern part of Bajo de Masinloc. This marks the sixth multilateral maritime cooperative activity
02:11among these countries. The Philippine Navy deployed its multi-role guided missile frigate
02:16BRPO Serizal along with search and rescue assets from the Philippine Air Force.
02:22Australia deployed HMAS Hobart, Japan sent the JS Akizuki, and the U.S. deployed its USS Benfold.
02:31Australia and the U.S. also deployed their P-8A Poseidon aircraft. According to the AFP,
02:37the exercises strengthened the interoperability of the participating countries,
02:42ensuring safe navigation while adhering to international law. Chinese PLA Navy warships were monitored
02:50but did not take any hostile action against the MMCA, which concluded successfully.
02:56Recently, the Philippines and the U.S. also conducted a joint aerial exercise over the West Philippine Sea.
03:03Two B-1 bomber aircraft from the U.S. Pacific Air Force also joined the exercise.
03:09An expert noted these activities demonstrate the continued support of the Philippine security partners
03:16while also sending a message to China.
03:26The goal of China while they're, you know, while it's applying what we call gravestone
03:32tactics against the Philippines is to weaken our resolve. But this military exercise,
03:39exercises in the multilateral and the bilateral
03:42exercises are indication that you cannot basically win the Philippines
03:48away from the United States and its security partners.
03:50U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro, Jr.
03:56held an introductory call to discuss defense cooperation
04:00as part of the U.S.-Philippines alliance along with ongoing deterrence efforts in the South China Sea.
04:07They also discussed strengthening the capability of the Armed Forces of the Philippines
04:12and the continued commitment to the 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty,
04:16which is vital to maintaining a secure and free Indo-Pacific.
