00:00Elon Musk has got to go! Hey, hey! Ho, ho!
00:15We are witnessing in real time the most corrupt bargain in American history.
00:21Elon Musk contributed, paid over $250 million to help elect Donald Trump.
00:30And now Donald Trump is turning over the keys to the treasury and the rest of the federal government to Elon Musk.
00:37We need to end this illegal power grab and we are going to do it now.
00:42We are not going back. Thank you all for being here.
00:45They stand alongside our military and others to make sure that the world knows who we are.
00:52USAID is implementing partners who carry out these critical programs.
00:58USA! USA! USA! USA!
01:08The second thing we are going to do is we are going to fight this legally in every way we can.
01:26We will fight their violation of civil service laws.
01:34We will fight their violation of civil rights laws.
01:40We will fight their violations of separation of powers.
01:45We will fight their violations of our Constitution of the United States of America.
01:51We will not shut up. We will stand up. We will speak up. We will rise up.
02:02It is time, as the African spiritual says, for us to lift every voice in condemnation of what's going on.
02:21This is not about left or right. It's about right and wrong.
02:31This is not about demonizing a political party. It is about telling the truth about Donald Trump's actions and Elon Musk's actions.
02:40We must, as a people, appeal to the consciousness of those modern Republicans that we can get to stand with us on legislation to save USAID.
02:55You don't just have a voice if you're a billionaire. You have a voice.
03:02You don't just have a voice if you're the President of the United States. You have a voice.
03:07You don't just have the voice if you're connected or elected. You have a voice.
03:14I am a surgeon. I am Atul Gawande, who has led global health at USAID for the last three years until two weeks ago.
03:27Until two weeks ago, there was a malaria team with world experts, and they are gone.
03:37Until two weeks ago, there was a TV team, and they are gone.
03:46Until two weeks ago, there were disease fighters, and they are gone.
03:55But they have not gone away.
03:58So we need you to demand that we let them work.
04:05Let them work. Let them work. Let them work. Let them work. Let them work. Let them work. Let them work.
04:21Let them work. Let them work. Let them work.
04:26Thank you all the way, and we will be together all the way. Thank you.
04:38Let them work.
04:40We are the moral force of the world. We are there to help with Ebola.
04:48USAID was there to help with Zika.
04:53Our jobs are gone, but hopefully the agency will remain, and one day we can come back and continue doing the work that we love to do.
05:02But let's be clear. They're dismantling USAID. They shut down the doors. They brought down banners.
05:10They put thousands and thousands of people on leave. This is not a reform. This is an attack.
05:16And USAID is just the beginning. It's USAID now, it's the Department of Education next, and it's an attack on our entire democratic government system.
05:24The United States gives a lot of money to improve the capacity of different governments around the world so that they can manage problems that eventually reach the United States.
05:46So that includes diseases like Ebola. It also includes security, trafficking, piracy, that if they get stopped in West Africa, they never come here.
05:58But if we wait, then the problems just get bigger.
06:02USAID workers are just some of the most low-key, but low-key brave, low-key courageous, low-key patriotic folks you will ever meet. They're not radicals.
06:22Most of them, in normal times, would go through their entire careers without ever being in the news, without ever being in the public eye in any way.
06:34And what is radical is to talk about patriotic Americans who have served their country in war zones, in epidemic hot zones, as if they are criminals, as if they and their service are somehow harming this country.
06:54It is the attacks on patriotic Americans serving their country and working for their government that is the radical act.
