00:00I know the whole House will support the Prime Minister's comments and send our thoughts
00:12to the family and all those who loved Harvey Wilgoose after his tragic and senseless death
00:19on Monday. I support the Government's actions to tackle the sale of certain knives online,
00:26but before national media attention moves on from yet another tragic death of a young
00:31person, I know the Prime Minister will agree with me that in order to tackle the scale
00:37of the crisis engulfing too many of our communities, we need a whole-system, cross-Government approach
00:43to tackle the root causes of violence. Will he commit his Government to tackling such
00:50a national strategy?
00:54This incident was horrific and senseless, and I thank him for raising it. The thoughts
01:00of the whole House are with the victims' families, friends and the wider school community
01:06who have been impacted by this. We are all grateful to the first responders, the police
01:11officers and the medical staff who attended the scene, and it is right that South Yorkshire
01:15Police are given the time and space to carry out their investigation. We need to do everything
01:21we can to bear down on knife crime. It is too easy to get knives online, it is too easy
01:27to carry knives without proper consequences, and that is why we have made it an absolute
01:31priority in Government. I hope it is a cross-party issue to absolutely bear down on knife crime.
