Three people have been arrested in Katherine after a man was shot in Darwin's northern suburbs. Northern Territory Police are searching for the weapon involved, as they appeal to the public for information about the motive of the alleged attack.

00:28passed through Adelaide River in the early hours of this morning.
00:32The car was apprehended at a roadblock north of Catherine just before 4am, 300 kilometres
00:38from the initial scene.
00:40Using tyre deflation devices stopped that particular vehicle and took three people into
00:44custody. There was a 19-year-old male who was the driver and two other 22-year-old male
00:50and a female.
00:52Neighbours at Litchfield Court in the Darwin suburb of Coconut Grove told the ABC they
00:56heard a gunshot at around 7 o'clock last night. But today, NT Police are still unsure
01:02of the type of firearm used and its whereabouts.
01:04It's described as a firearm but we're yet to determine exactly what that looks like.
01:09The firearm remains outstanding and there is the possibility that the weapon is actually
01:15a homemade type device.
01:18And while some motives have been ruled out by investigators...
01:21There is no linkages to organised crime or any other gang-related activity or anything
01:26else that may be racially motivated in relation to this matter.
01:30Police are urging anyone with information that could assist to come forward.
