00:00Well there's been a rather staunch and unified message from many European
00:06leaders. We heard from Donald Tusk, the Polish Prime Minister, who said that this
00:11would be a test of EU solidarity. We also heard a very strong message from French
00:18President Emmanuel Macron who said this was an opportunity for the European
00:22Union to stand up for itself. We've also heard from the spokesperson for the
00:28European Commission saying that if indeed Donald Trump goes through with
00:32his threat of duties on EU goods then they will respond firmly. That was a
00:38point very much reiterated by Kai Callas, the EU's top diplomat and foreign
00:42affairs chief. She said that they are working on a response if it's needed. She
00:47said though that there are essentially no winners in a trade war and she
00:51added that China will be the ones laughing if indeed there was to be an
00:56escalation in a trade spat between the EU and the US, two historically close
01:02allies that account for around 1.6 trillion dollars worth of trade every
01:07year, one of the biggest trade partnerships anywhere in the world.
