00:00It was like a perfect storm.
00:03So you've got fires at commercial egg farms that wipe out, you know, flocks.
00:08Then you've got the avian flu, which has wiped out about 15% of the laying, like, hens in
00:15the country.
00:17This year is a really bad strain, it happens every year, but whatever.
00:20And then you've got the cage-free regulations, which this year are starting to kick in in
00:25a lot of states.
00:26You know, like California, Arizona, I think, Massachusetts.
00:30So this means that the chickens can't be in the tiny cages, they have to, like, be allowed
00:33to roam, which means the farms have to give them more room, so it costs them more money,
00:37whatever.
00:38You've also got, those are the main things, but you've also got secondary, the war in
00:44Ukraine.
00:45They supplied a good portion of the world's wheat, which is what chickens eat, so chicken
00:49feed prices have gone up, gas prices, higher transportation costs, make the price of everything
00:54go up.
00:56And then you've got eggs just were added to the healthy food list.
01:00So now demand, probably people are going, oh, we can eat eggs again.
01:05So it's kind of like all come together.
01:10But realistically, you know, even like $5 or $6 for a dozen eggs, like, think of all
01:14you can do with a dozen eggs.
