00:00The Session Court of Appeal rejected the initial objection of Zain Ryan Abdul Matin's mother and father,
00:07who argued that the accusation of neglecting autistic children was flawed.
00:12Judge Shahli Zawalnoh ruled that the charges against Zaim Ikwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf were not flawed
00:19and were in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Act.
00:23On June 13, the two, who are 30 years old, admitted not guilty in the Session Court
00:29on charges of neglecting Zain Ryan for 6 years in a way that could cause physical injury to him.
00:36The accusation was made in accordance with Section 31, Section 1, Section A of the Children's Act 2001,
00:43which can be fined a maximum of RM50,000, imprisonment up to 20 years or both if proven guilty.
00:51Zain Ryan was reported missing on December 5, 2023 and his body was found the next day,
00:58believed to have been killed after an autopsy revealed an injury to the neck and a body that was consistent with self-defense.
