00:00Songwriter of the Year nomination tonight, how does it feel to be here?
00:04Crazy cool. I didn't even know there was a songwriter award, so it was very cool to find that out.
00:10And, you know, songwriters, we like to stay in the back, you know, hide in our room.
00:14So to be honored and put a spotlight on us feels really good.
00:19You worked on the Twisters song, Ain't No Love, in Oklahoma.
00:23Did you expect that to take on the life that it did just on social media and on TikTok?
00:27No. It's funny because I have kids and they're like, Mom, it's viral, you know.
00:32It really has taken on a life of its own and it's gone way beyond my wildest dreams.
00:37When we wrote it that day, we had fun writing it and we felt like this is powerful.
00:41But you just never know.
00:43You've worked with so many big name artists, but who's somebody on your list to collaborate with next?
00:48Maybe a current Grammy nominee?
00:50Ooh, yeah. Lainey Wilson is a good friend of mine. We've collaborated a lot.
00:55Meg Maroney is an upcoming female artist that I write with a lot. It's great.
00:59Riley Green. There's so many. The country scene right now is chock full of great, great artists.
01:06As a country songwriter, what's your take on Cowboy Carter and just all the love that it's gotten?
01:11I think it's cool. It's just like so many different influences coming into country music now.
01:16And, yeah, it's cool. It's fun to see.
01:19That's amazing. And who are you most excited to see perform tonight? So many big performances.
01:23I know. I'm really excited about seeing Lainey perform. I believe she's performing.
01:28And a friend of mine, Sheryl Crow, just to see her. This is like her. She's the Grammy queen.
01:33So it'll be fun to see her.
01:35I love that. I mean, this is music's biggest night.
01:37And since we're The Hollywood Reporter, I want to ask you about how music biopics are having a really big moment.
01:43With A Complete Unknown, we've got the Bruce Springsteen movie coming up.
01:46Who's an artist you'd love to see a music biopic about next?
01:49Stevie Nicks. Wouldn't that be cool?
01:52I'm excited about Janis Joplin. I think that'll be fun.
01:55Just all the females. It's cool. Yeah, Stevie Nicks.
