00:00After receiving an award at the first Philippine Sports Writer Association Awards Night,
00:05the Filipino powerlifters Reggie Ramirez and Jessamay Tabuan
00:09will compete in the competition for the year 2025.
00:12What can we expect from them?
00:14That's what we'll find out in the story of teammate Rafael Bandayrel.
00:19The Philippine powerlifters Reggie Ramirez and Jessamay Tabuan received a special citation in the PSA Awards Night.
00:28This is in line with their successful achievements in the past 100 years.
00:33In 2025, they have no plans to stop competing in the local and international competitions
00:40so that the powerlifters can move even more.
00:43Ramirez was born in Ormoc, Leyte.
00:46He will compete in the 2025 World Games held in Chengdu, China from August 7 to 17.
00:53He will also compete in the World Open Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Istanbul, Turkey in November.
00:59There's no more hiatus like the pandemic that, you know, happened.
01:05So now, it's just continuous.
01:07And then, I guess, we will be even performing better or well
01:14because we have more months to prepare together with that already solid foundation.
01:21Jessamay will represent her alma mater, Jose Rizal University,
01:26in the collegiate powerlifting competition that will be held in the centennial season of NCAA.
01:32This is the first time that powerlifting will be held in the league.
01:36So, this will be the key if powerlifting will be held again in the upcoming NCAA seasons.
01:44What I can say is that this sport is very lucky.
01:49For me, because it's not well-known and it's not included in the events where there's no powerlifting.
01:58So, this NCAA is a big opportunity to show to the audience that there's this kind of sport
02:05that's been going on for a long time.
02:09Meanwhile, the former president of the Powerlifting Association of the Philippines, Edito Reyes,
02:15said that the contributions of Reggie and Jessamay in raising the sport of powerlifting in the Philippines is a big thing.
02:22We can see that the Filipinos who are homegrown can be successful.
02:28Reggie is the first Filipino to get a world open record and of course, a gold medal with that in the world open championships.
02:39And then Jessamay, it's her second time to win the world championships in the junior category.
